There are debates about EVERYTHING when it comes to quality vs. quantity. If I had 10 cheap, simple Bibles, would that be any better than 1 expensive, elegent Bible; or vice versa?
Does it make a difference?

I'm asking hypothetically, by the way--I may be atheist, but I have several Bibles of various translations, qualities, and levels of accuracy.

No, I don't think it makes a difference.
Personally, I'd take "expensive and elegant" over "cheap and simple" pretty much every time. And I'm not talking about just bibles either !

Well, I only use the King James Version, but it makes sense that if you could compare them all, you would be able to assess for yourself which one was more accurate (especially if you had an understanding of Greek and Hebrew, lol).
Really, the thing that would probably make the most difference would be to read and apply what was said (in any one of them) and see how it benefits your life (and your heart). If it made a difference to you in those ways, then great.
If not, it makes no difference how many Bibles are in your house, unless you are the kind of atheist who likes to hold Bible study classes, lol. :-)

You can't judge a book by it's cover. It is what is inside the Bibles that is important, not the elaborate covers. If you read any one of those Bibles, and pay attention to the wisdom found therein, you will have found a treasure worth more than any riches. (Proverbs 2:1-5)

If all your cheap ones were the same, I'd say it'd be better to have the elegant one.
Me? I want one with a concordance! Okay, in these internet days, that's much less important, LOL. So it's all buena if you have a cheap Bible and Internet access.

Don't judge a book by its cover, and you can take that proverb literally in this case ;) .
Personally I have both; the plain one I will be reading, and the other is just for keepsake (it's got an engraved box and was a gift.)

Its the words not the name....
Although some are translated so badly and twist the scriptures to deny the Deity of Christ that you really need to make sure the ones you read are the closest to God's words.

I personally have a few different translations. It comes in handy when there are discrepancies raised about the meaning of certain verses.
What you need is a Bible that is accurate. One that still has God's name,Jehovah in it and preferrably one that is not paraphrased.

No - it doesn't matter. God makes sure that the Bible stays correct through translations.
Revelations 22:18-19
"I solemnly warn everyone who hears the prophetic words of this book: if anyone adds anything to them, God will add to his punishment the plagues described in this book. And if anyone takes anything away from the prophetic words of this book, God will take away from him his share of the fruit of the tree of life and of the Holy City, which are described in this book."

i had 3 bibles and thew 2 of them in the trash, i kinda like the catholic one, for reference , on how in the past the christian religion and other Jew religions are.
the king James one is worthless, written in the middle ages, the christian church is stuck in the middle age as, the Jews are stuck 3000 years ago and the other one is stuck in the 500 dreads.

It is said that scriptures that are falling apart usually belong to someone who isn't. With that said, my answer is, just read the Bible.
