Doesn't it feel good to be free of spiritual oppression?

I just became an atheist, and it feels great to be able to speak out against the catholic church and tell them all of the flaws of their bible. Science has always offered me more than religion ever will.

How can a person feel oppressed when there are SO many "gods" and depending on where and when you are born you will fear or worship a different one!

It's good to be free of the arrogance of thinking that I (and the others of my particular belief) had the one TRUE "god"...

Yes yes yes.
"When I became convinced that the Universe is natural — that all the ghosts and gods are myths, there entered into my brain, into my soul, into every drop of my blood, the sense, the feeling, the joy of freedom. The walls of my prison crumbled and fell, the dungeon was flooded with light and all the bolts, and bars, and manacles became dust. I was no longer a servant, a serf or a slave.
There was for me no master in all the wide world — not even in infinite space. I was free — free to think, to express my thoughts – free to live to my own ideal — free to live for myself and those I loved — free to use all my faculties, all my senses – free to spread imagination’s wings — free to investigate, to guess and dream and hope — free to judge and determine for myself – free to reject all ignorant and cruel creeds, all the “inspired” books that savages have produced, and all the barbarous legends of the past — free from popes and priests — free from all the “called” and “set apart” — free from sanctified mistakes and holy lies — free from the fear of eternal pain — free from the winged monsters of the night — free from devils, ghosts and gods. For the first time I was free. There were no prohibited places in all the realms of thought — no air, no space, where fancy could not spread her painted wings — no chains for my limbs — no lashes for my back — no fires for my flesh — no master’s frown or threat — no following another’s steps — no need to bow, or cringe, or crawl, or utter lying words. I was free. I stood erect and fearlessly, joyously, faced all worlds."

Robert Green Ingersoll - “Why I Am An Agnostic”

I wouldn't know....can't say I'm an atheist but maybe agnostic...I just can't figure it out. You are lucky to have decided, just as people who have their faith are lucky. I guess we, in the middle, are the ones who are worried about our inability to choose. Sometimes, I'm convinced that religion is for kids....actually, anti-intellectual, then something happens that renews the wonder. It is not a peaceful state!

How do you know for sure if you are an atheist?

Doppler, sorry to inform you, but if you fear God then you are not an Atheist. Probably not even an agnostic. Here's a book for you to read, "GOD IS NOT GREAT" by Christopher Hitchens. But don't be so ready to take any one person's word for what's what. Too many young people do that.

No because I feel oppressed by a very real moral authority: my own.

Yeah it does, free thinking, logic, and reason is a beautiful thing, now if only we could convince the rest of the world to see that.

I cannot imagine how you must feel. Because of everything that I have learned, I know that logically, God cannot be real, but I, myself, cannot seem to fully convince myself of that. It's one of those, "I know it's not real, but I can't help but believe in it" sort of things. -.- I think it's because I was forced into Catholocism for a few years when I was younger... but I'm sure you feel very good right now. ^-^
