I don't want any crackpot authors, time for reading is limited. If I were to buy my first book what should it be, and when I say credible its not full of lies or distortions or errors and could withstand peer review

Has anybody noticed that the Watchtower bible and Tract Society (Jehovah's Witnesses) is the only Religion in the world that has isn't in decline but is actually growing? I mean they have more than 100,000 kingdom halls (churches). Thats more than all the Walmarts, Targets and McDonald's in the world. AND they make more than 2,000 new ones every year. Not only that but they are the only ones fulfilling the prophecies of the great crowd spoke of in the bible. And the only ones to fulfill the scripture in Matthew 24: 14.

I can't make myself beleive in God! I don't know why. I WISH that he was real, but I can't think it. Is there any way to believe, or is it just how you were brought up?

There was also a comparison made to Kennedy being a Catholic and that 40 million Americans would be automatically excluded from running for president upon baptism. The article went on to say that it shouldn't matter what someone's theology is but how they conduct themselves in this life. I would argue that someone's theology and hence their perception (aka perversion) of things like the afterlife ENTIRELY DICTATES HOW THEY WILL CONDUCT THEMSELVES IN THIS LIFE!

I think it is perfectly fair to particularly question, probe, and challlenge a presidential candidates theology; it should be encouraged!

And mormons, don't say 'bring it on'; you will lose...

Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.
Psalms 116:15
what does this text mean? i read the whole chapter and it talks about how awesome the Lord is bc He's always there when you need him and hears our cries and stuff...what does this verse have to do with the rest of the chapter? it caught my attention bc i saw a satan worshipper's myspace page and this was her quote...that verse, a little disturbing.

I'm writing a biography on how "straight" I've become for my Living Christian support group. I can't write "I've never slept with a woman" because I've told them that I have. Only Pastor Dan and my sponsor know that I was gay. If they find out I still am they will tell Mom and Dad. How many woman can I realistically I say I slept with (22 yrs old)?

This is what you are to say to the Israelites; I AM has sent me to you.."
John 8:58 says.." I tell you the truth, Jesus answered, " before Abraham, was born, I AM!"..

Why do you think the translators of your Bible, felt the need to change John 8:58 to say Jesus said to them: “Most truly I say to YOU, Before Abraham came into existence, I have been."

Does that not change the whole meaning of the scripture. Why do you think they did that?

Doesn't "militancy" imply a willingness to take up arms? Which one has more of a vigilante attitude? Which one has more trouble accepting pluralism?

Why are the media associating violence with atheists? Who ever attacked other people simply to promote atheism?

I've heard many explain faith alone to me as true faith produces works, but works cannot produce faith, nor will God grant faith to the man who attempts to do works. My question is, if this is true, then why isnt everyone who believes Faith Alone Calvanist?

Consider that if there is nothing you can do to achieve faith, and works are to no avail, and all good works flow from Faith anyway, then who can come to God of their own choosing? It must be God who grants Faith to some, but not to others. Then it is God who decides who is saved and who isnt, and the man has no say in the matter. Was the man who pleaded "Lord I believe, help my unbelief!" pleading in vain? Or is there something, some work, that us men must do in order to receive God's calling us to salvation? If so, doesnt that make it not faith alone, but faith and works both? Even if this work is only accepting Christ into your life, is this still not a good work and not by faith alone?

If the "Bibles" of today, with all their versions and differences in the quantity of their "books" and "gospels", were in fact the Original Holy Word of GOD Almighty, then there would be no need for the Noble Quran. But since they are corrupt, then we obviously can't consider them as GOD Almighty's Holy and Divine Words. you agree?

Why is it when we tell you we rae not really interested you keep coming back? I have flat out told you people I do not believe that jospeh smith was a prophet and I am NOT interested in your church, so why do you keep knocking on my door? I am a Christian, I believe in God but you say since I dont go to your church I will still go to hell. I dont believe you. why do you keep pushing, do you not realize your behavior makes people very mad? and you turn more people off with your attitude than anything else? I watched your stupid movie on jospeh smith, I still think he was a habitual lier looking for attention.

The News reports the drug most prescribed in the USA are Anti-Depressants..

Things in life seem to be going along quite smoothly.
Then, unexpectedly...

The individual has a serious life crisis such as career failure,
divorce, a health problem, a serious addiction, financial
collapse, a near death experience, etc.or any combination of such events

At some point the crisis and anguish becomes so intense
she or he drops to the floor and, in a climactic act of desperation, cries out
God, help me!

Sometimes a Glass of red wine reading scripture and finding true love is key to anything that might ail ya...
Thoughts?

I don't belive in evolution, and don't see how anyone can. Things don't explode into other things how many times have you seen a hippo evolve when a bomb goes off how many times has your pet dog grown something cool or gotten better typically they get worse. And die. Have you seen any changes in animals in the past like couple thousands of years? I mean come on!

and that was it. If you said no I said "Thank you". I do not go door to door pushing my church but if I did it would be a simple "I am inviting you to visit my Church, thank you". I am the leader of our youth program (AWANA) and I am probably gonna visit the neighborhood and see if families have youth interesting to attending our program. My approach is going to be simple. I will tell them what I am promoting and if they are not interested I will say "Thank you" and move on. How do you feel about that?

Some people ask questions when they receive the correct answer to their question, instead of thanking the person for educating them they throw accusations at that person. Is speaking the truth being racist?

If it's so, then repentance seems rather futile to me, think I'll just relax back into my harmlessly sinful ways as usual and give the repentance thing a miss seeing as it won't make a jot of difference to my status.

If it's not so, then the people who think we are all sinners are wrong because clearly there would be some of us who had repented for all our sins and were not sinners...so what's the answer?
