I don't want any crackpot authors, time for reading is limited. If I were to buy my first book what should it be, and when I say credible its not full of lies or distortions or errors and could withstand peer review

I don't believe the world will end. Neither did the Mayans, this was baloney run by the apocalypse money-mills.

Your question is oxymoronic, so I'm afraid you are asking the impossible. You want a *credible* book about the world ending that has no lies, distortions or errors. Surely you jest.

As you say reading time is precious - particularly as 5 years out time is short - suggest survival books as a more productive use of time left !
