Very few of our hymns reflect this shift in understanding God.
MANY hymnals are as OLD as futile and faulty TRADITIONS.
Should churches trash the hymnals to get into AD->goes fwd?

Christians, what are your spiritual gifts? I have the gifts of discernment and teaching. Ever since I was little, I could easily distinguish what was holy from what wasn't. What gifts has God given you?

I am wondering .. Jesus always mentioned that he is the Son of GOD. Then the question arises as to who is GOD. Even Mohammad says that He is Messenger of GOD.... But in INDIA... Krishna says that HE is GOD and everything emanates from HIM.... If I see the old testament and old quran both Jesus and Mohammad seem to have visited INDIA for Spirituality.

i've been accused of being a tree hugger (in a negative sense) many times in here and in the real world. i guess it's because i'm pagan and care about the environment. how is this a bad thing? if nobody cares for the environment, then life will cease to exist. well not entirely, cause life will find a way. it will evolve into something completely different i suppose.

anyway, i want to help protect the earth. i respect all life and think i am part of nature, not above it.

i'm not asking you to believe what i believe, and i'm not asking you to mock my beliefs, i am only asking why being a tree hugger is often seen as a negative thing. thanks.

how do Mormons feel about the papyrus that Joseph Smith translated from "reformed Egyptian." Egyptologists have identified it as an ordinary funerary document. how do you feel about this?

please note: this is not a criticism, i am curious about Mormon opinions, so don't take it the wrong way.

11,500 acres spread across 35 villages in Pakistan. Thats what Hindu refugee from pakistan named Vidhyawati lost during partition. In comparition, She was alloted only 835 acres in a village in Karnal. If this is her plight thing about ordinary Hindus struck in poverty. They were kicked out or killed and their properties taken away. Millions of Hindus\Sikhs lost their lives.

Majority of Muslims stayed in India not due to patriotism but they did not want to lose their business and wealth as they were assured that Indian government will not take away their wealth Few Examples: Nizams and Princes of Avadh Nawabs and their muslim ministers.

I know a young girl who has a tattoo on his back, above the hips. It’s like butterfly with extended wings.
I am curious to know if this kind of tattoo means something special in society; for example does it belong to any group or cult or school?

Please let me know what you would think about that?

I love parades. I been to the Easter parade in NY, and the 4th of July, Inauguration, and Cherry Blossom parades in Wash. DC. One day I hope to do the Thanksgiving Day Macy's parade in NYC, and Shriners in PA.

I read this forum more than I participate in it and it seems to me that most of the religions are very similar, yet some seem to feel their religion is supeior to others in some way. The religions that seem to be most different from the others receive the most venom and accusations of cultism. Maybe it would help if people stopped now and then and examined what they have in common and the virtues of these commnalities rather than constantly berating one another. In short, Can't we all just get along?

With all respect towards your religion it irks me that homosexuality is condemned by Islam. I'm still reading the Qur'an so that I might make sense of this but it irks me because personal experience (I myself am not homosexual) that homosexuality is something that cannot be changed nor is it anything that should be viewed as evil or sinful. Yet Islam, which I have a deep respect for, apparently condemns homosexuality. Are there Muslims here who do not believe homosexuality to be sinful and is this issue disputed at all by Muslims?

I have a department luncheon tomorrow at a golf resort restaurant. I have been invited, but am only a summer intern. I've decided to go, since I declined to attend one last summer. What should I expect? Who pays: me or the company? The company is a power company with a 'business casual' dress code, if that helps. Thanks!

In a previous question, a well-versed answerer responded that current publications of Jehovah's Witnesses don't discuss obsolete information because it would "confuse" people.

Although "Proclaimers" is a fairly recent publication, the WT describes it as a "candid" - therefore, honest - account of their history including "adjustments" they've made when their "truth" turned out to be not. Page 730 of the Index lists some adjustments for years 1873-1975. Obviously, this is all "obsolete" information, but this IS a history book so if you exclude "old" information, it wouldn't really be a history book, would it?

1. So why would adding 1799 to that list cause any more "confusion" than all the other dates in that list?

2. Does this "confusion" result because to admit the WT was teaching 1799, not 1914, would mean that 1914 is also subject to becoming "obsolete" as the WT date for the beginning of the Time of the End, which would confuse anyone who thinks it's the absolute truth?
