Yesterday, "bran muffin Wednesday", seemed to find R&S in a very fun, even playful, mood. What happened in the last 24 hrs.? It seems that today should be called "vicious Thursday".

Were you surprised to discover Paris Hilton is a Roman Catholic? Did you see her on Larry King Live say that? Will there be a mass exodus from the Catholic Church? Since I was raised Catholic K-12 will Catholics spare me the overreactions? Will there be a marked decline in parents sending their kids to Catholic schools now that the entire world knows Paris went to Catholic schools as a kid?

The God Delusion = Richard Dawkins = the dumbest book I ever read!

The other book I was reading was called "God is not great"
And the last one "Science can prove there's no God"

However, the funny thing here, is that all these books were in the religion section! These Authors don't believe in God, and their books are full of things about God! You’ll never understand what are they saying! Their ideology is very bad!

For example if I don't believe in Zeus, why Am I going to spend my Whole life talking, researching, writing about him?

These people are doing the same thing! Why?

I'm rather confused by this claim. Are they arguing that there is no single principle that 'reality' can be reduced to or are they claiming that 'reality' per se is illusory?

What is the ontology of Buddhism?

Uploading (sometimes called 'mind uploading' or 'brain reconstruction') is the hypothetical process of transferring a mind from a biological brain to an artificial substrate -- a highly advanced computer.

Once uploaded, one could, for example, inhabit a much more robust and powerful 'body' of any shape or size, move between bodies at will, live in a fully customized virtual environment, reprogram and copy oneself, enhance one's clock speed and intelligence by many orders of magnitude, gather, store, access & assimilate vast amounts of data (simultaneously), travel at the speed of light as pure information etc. etc.

So, do you think that one day this will be possible? Would it be something you would be interested in doing? Why or why not? And how would this, if it became a reality, effect your religious beliefs (if any)?

A passionate struggle for freedom is deeply embedded in the history of the western world. It still inspires us today. And it still inspires oppressed people everywhere. Freedom is our great meta-meme, the crowning jewel of our civilization...but lately, in our own back yard, freedom has taken a perverse, hyper-individualistic turn. We now drink more, do more drugs, live more promiscuously, spend more money, use up more resources, create more waste, and deliberately flaunt our wealth, power, and sexuality more than any other culture on earth. When a modest, pious man living in a poor village a world away looks at us, what does he see? While 79% of university entrants in 1970 said their goal in life was to develop "a meaningful philosophy of life," by 2005, 75% defined their life's objective as "being very well off financially." What happened? Have we found total freedom, or absolute disconnect? Are we becoming liberated, or just increasingly self-centered and alienated? (more)

The earth is flat!! The sun orbits around teh earth!! Dinosaurs did not, I repeat did not exist!! Homosexuality is a sickness, thus curable!! No animals other than humans exhibit homosexual behaviour!! (well some look at each other but they don't have sex).

I have actually read some of these statements on YA this morning. What is wrong with these people??!? Why can't they just accept that all people are not the same (thank God!)?
What is it they are so afraid of? There's actually one idiot on here who stated, as if he was an expert that men become gay because they were raised in homes with no father and grew too close to Mom.

Sorry, I'm gonna take some aspirin and calm down now. I won't let the flat earthers get to me today.
