Thanks for you all.. who shared their time, and shared their effort to answer an important question. I already know the answer but wanted my friend to see that it's a fact and I'm not fabricating facts.

No. That is the "puritan" (Taliban, Wahhabi) position and it is not correct. The Qur'an is the primary reference in Islam, Hadith is secondary and not always reliable. So I will refer to a translation of Qur'an.
5:32 On account of (Cain's murder of his brother), We decreed to the Children of Israel that if anyone kills a person -- unless it is in retaliation for murder or spreading corruption in the land -- it is as if he kills all mankind, while if any saves a life it is as if he saves the lives of all mankind.
17:33 Do not take life, which God has made sacred, except by right: if anyone is killed wrongfully, We have given authority to the defender of his rights, but he should not be excessive in taking life, for he is already aided (by God).
2:256 There is no compulsion in religion: true guidance has become distinct from error, so whoever rejects false gods and believes in God has grasped the firmest hand-hold, one that will never break.
Clearly, the threat of capital punishment for leaving the religion would be a form of compulsion.

perhaps in radical Islam which is the wrong way and seems to be what people believe about all muslims. As far as hadith is concerned what it says in the Quran is the only important thing. It is the best and only hadith that one should follow. The rest are what a man thinks and says but not what God says.

I living in a country where there is strict Sharia law. I 'been for long time here. Never I did I hear a story as such. I have seen and heard beheading for crimes for killing and other crimes that gets capital punishments. I know that Allah says in the Quran that if we turn away Allah will bring another people who will be better than us and punishments are mentioned of that in the after life and don't say to kill someone. But Scholars have differant view on this and there are Hadiths that supports. Allah Knows best.

When someone decides to leave Islam then it is their right to choose the way they want to believe.
[Quran 2:256] "There shall be no compulsion in religion...".
I believe that Quran as a comprehensive and complete book would not miss such important thing. It condemns to kill a person who does not want to be a Muslim any more... It is up to him/her. And God who will judge them not anybody else.
Threatening people to kill them if they leave Islam will lead many to hide the truth of not being a Muslim while Islam doesn't need such followers. It is better they leave Islam to whatever they want to be but not keepig Muslims in public and hiding the truth ofbeing no longer Muslims just because they are afraid of being killed.
Islam is much wise and peaceful that do not lead people to lie and being "false" Muslims... Islam doesn't care about the number of followers but it does about the quality of the followers..
Peace!

Allah says to kill one man is like killing all of mankind and that there is to be no compulsion in religion also. If someone decides to leave Islam and i know them personally or not the last thing i am thinking is i have a duty to kill them now. Allah is all seeing and all knowing. There decision is for them to suffer the consequences. Everyone before they die also has the chance of Insha Allah coming back to Islam. So by killing someone are you not taking away there chance to turn back to Islam?
Killing anyone for any reason is the last thing as a Muslim that is ever on my mind. It is not for me to judge someone and there decisions that is Allah's job and no one elses.
At the end of the day we all have to worry about our own selves and our own decisions in life. We ALL stand alone on judgment day.

there are hadiths about This brother....and the explanation that was given for these were that , that order was given for those "Munafiqeens" who used to join Muslims in the early days of islam and then after spreading misconceptions and doubts about islam among muslims used to quit declearing that islam looked false to them..In order to keep others away from islam..So in order to stop such practise that order was given..But that was for them, not applied for all times just like covering face for women hadiths !Now brother..I can't debate on that due to my small knowledge about my religion ..But one thing i am sure about is that No one has been killed for quitting islam..In My country which is always highlighted for religious fanatics and redicals...i heard of a person who became an athiest and he is alive and living comfortably !actualy only the governaments or the law system is allowed to decice the death sentence ..no one can kill other just By the wayon his own judgment ..There is always a system for any punishement which is appreciated by islam ..and none of the islamic governaments have such laws whatsoever !!

Murder is can not be justified no matter what wether the person is muslim or not. We are all Allah's children. The only defense is if you must defend yourself in order to survive. It is Allah's place to judge those who turned from Islam not ours.
