There has been oppression of every minority group even whites throughout history.

Even whites have subgroups that are considered minorities. Look at the break up of Yugoslavia, and the entire Serbian/Croation in fighting and ethnic cleansing. Both groups are slavic/caucasian in appearance, but differences along ethnic lines lead them to commit attrocities upon each other.

Most oppression occurs, initially when there is an interaction between two seperate and distinct groups, and one group due to position, technology, or circumstance holds power.

You can see this when the Spaniards arrive in the Carribean and what is now Mexico and South America. When Europeans meet and exploit Africans initially, and even farther back. When the Jews moved into Eqypt to escape famine and were enslaved. Or later when the Irish people tried to escape famine by moving to the USA they were not accepted and had years a strife and difficulty finding work and acceptance. Jewish people in Europe (Predominantly caucasian) were herded into camps by the Nazis.

Anytime a minority group establishes itself and demands rights from the majority there is strife and conflict. The majority fears change, and as cultures mix change is inevitable. We always fear what we dont understand or dont know.

Oppression is the result of fear, anxiety, and conflict. Whipped into a fury by instigators, or people seeking power the minority is often used as a scapegoat on their rise to power.

It is not just White that oppress, it is Humans who oppress. Look at history. The way Japanese Soldiers treated Chinese civilians during WW2. You might read the book, "The Rape of Nanking!"

A good book to read about this might be, "Guns, Germs, and Steel!" This does a good job of explaining how Europeans came into power and how they often abused that power over civilizations less technologically advanced than themselves.

Ultimately the answer to your question is this....GREED! Cheap labor, pushing away natives to steal their resources etc...

Look at International Corporations for the source of Greed and Oppression Globally now. See how they manipulate people, governments, and each other to acheive their profits.

You need to read more history. EVERY race has been oppressed at some time in some way, not just what are the current "minorities". Also, what is a minority here is not necessarily a minority elsewhere. As a white guy, I would be a "minority" if I went to China, Japan, Africa, etc.

Define "Whites", are Jews "white"? How about the Irish? If you look back in history, there has been oppression of many "white" groups... today if you are gay, it doesn't matter your skin color or religion, you can lose your home, kids, job, and even be beaten to death. And the "right" to do these things to another human being is protected by law. In VA, they can fire you, evict you, arrest you, and take your kids away, legally!

I think the better question is "Why is there oppression?"

Not true. Every new group after the original settlers arriving in the U.S. experienced oppression and discrimination. The difference was that it was easier for their children to assimilate into society since they looked like everyone else.
Lots of people know or find out when researching their family history, that some ancestor changed their name to one sounded less Jewish, or Irish or Polish. They did this to avoid discrimination and oppression.

do you actually know what oppression means!
every 1 can become oppressed!!!!

an example of oppression could be:

It is common that women, especially younger women, are in a bind where neither sexual activity nor sexual inactivity is all right. If she is heterosexually active, a woman is open to censure and punishment for being loose, unprincipled or a whore. The "punishment" comes in the form of criticism, snide and embarrassing remarks, being treated as an easy lay by men, scorn from her more restrained female friends. She may have to lie to hide her behavior from her parents. She must juggle the risks of unwanted pregnancy and dangerous contraceptives. On the other hand, if she refrains from heterosexual activity, she is fairly constantly harassed by men who try to persuade her into it and pressure her into it and pressure her to "relax" and "let her hair down"; she is threatened with labels like "frigid," "uptight," "man-hater," "*****," and "*********." The same parents who would be disapproving of her sexual activity may be worried by her inactivity because it suggests she is not or will not be popular, or is not sexually normal. She may be charged with lesbianism. If a woman is raped, then if she has been heterosexually active she is subject to the presumption that she liked it (since her activity is presumed to show that she likes sex), and if she has not been heterosexually active, she is subject to the presumption that she liked it (since she is supposedly "repressed and frustrated"). Both heterosexual activity and heterosexual nonactivity are likely to be taken as proof that you wanted to be raped, and hence, of course, weren’t really raped at all. You can’t win. You are caught in a bind, caught between systematically related pressures.

take care

Do you have any idea what it's like to be a middle or lower working class or poor man in an Anglo-Saxon culture? Do you even have a clue? Try it for 6 months and I promise you your whole perspective on life and how you perceived the world to be will be flipped turned upside down. Everything you've been taught, told, believed things to be will be tested. Go live in any other culture, I mean live in guttural way as part of the culture, living and working as an active component for six months in an non Anglo culture, preferably more than one and look back at ours and see if you don't have a different perspective of our life as men and the gender roles in general.

What about children who are born bi-racial (one parent is black and the other is white) and they have to be listed as "African American" on the birth certificate? Isn't that a form of oppression? Granted, it doesn't compare to slavery, but I personally think it's wrong. First of all, they should be listed as bi-racial, because that's what they ARE. Secondly, NONE of my bi-racial relatives have ever BEEN to Africa, let alone qualify for dual citizenship there!

Political correctness is a bunch of bull crap, because the end result is nothing more than another form of discrimination!

YOu are a moron. Read up on your history.

By the way, some of my ancestors came over as indentured servants.....same as slavery except for the time limit. My grandmother was picking cotton side by side with black sharecroppers during the depression so the family could eat. Reading is your friend, brush up on your history.
