which one should we follow?
especially with some churches talk of rewriting the bible,
if they are willing to change the stories and views in their holy document, how can we believe anything they say?

I am talking about all religions I just used the changing of the bible as an example.
and yes any current version would differ due to the translation from the language it was written in. but at least theres an excuse there!

maddogcrog - why Christians?

Gabe S - but if the Bible is the basis of the religion even as times change the events in the Bible, otherwise it becomes a work of verifiable fiction.

Pat M - i don't think you understood the question, which religion is "right"?

gwhiz1052 - how does archeology proove the bible? I haven't seen the part with the Dinosaurs in it,

The only religion that is right is the one you feel is right for you. Which means every religion is right so long as it works for somebody. All that matters is what you believe. Go with what your heart and head say, not with what someone else says or feels.

"we shouldnt change it to suit our views we should better conform ourselves to itrs views thats my opinion"

I believe this to be a dangerous thing. How do you know the Bible you read hasn't already been altered? I presume you read an English version, so who is to say it was translated properly? Who is to say durring the oral tradition of the stories, it wasa altered before being in the Bible? I think conforming to anything is a bad idea. I much prefer the idea of taking everything into consideration and then move on, possibly adding things to yourself from the other things.

Also, to Gabe S, why would they need to change it? Yes those things aren't acceptable in today's society, but it is giving us the history/heritage of the Church. You just can't change something in history because you don't like it. Besides not all people preach those things and might find something in the Bible to contradict the said thing.

Good question, there has been a new english version come out almost every year since 1900, and all they have done is cause confusion.
The best advice I can give you is to get a translation that was made before 1900, a good english dictionary and an exhaustive concordance would help too.

If you wanted to ask which religion was right, you should have asked which religion was right, you said churches, and Bible which are specific to Christianity.
I didn't misunderstand the question, you just didn't ask what you wanted to ask.

Changing the Bible is one of the biggest sins you could do. Unfortunately I wouldn't be surprised if all versions differ from the original in some way. I read the NIV version. The King James is the most accepted and the NIV is pretty much the same thing but in more modern language so its easier to understand. Stay away from the Catholic Bible. I don't know why, but Catholics don't really teach the Bible (confirmed by many Catholic friends). And a lot of things theybelieve in are not scripture and a lot of times are told not to do in the Bible(priests, pope, Mary, confession booths, etc.).

Too late!

Todays bible is not the same document that was first written down.

Men in the church at various times have decided which stories are 'true' and which are 'false'. Some 'false' versions they have attempted to destroy all copies and kill all the people who believe it to be true.

Even then the first gospel was written a generation after Jesus was supposed to have died. The next to be written down can not be found - the Q gospel. But two, sometimes contradictory, gospels came out of it - Mark and Luke. If they are different but both came from the same source at least one must have been changed.

Meanwhile 1st century Nazareth turns out to be a burial ground, so no town or city would have been built near such an unclean site. Jesus of .....?

As you say, how can we believe anything they say?

The Bible says that if we add a "jot or a tittle" meaning anything ... that we will be held accountable for this .. So my answer to this question is that if someone stated that they would change the Bible, or rewrite it ... obviously they are choosing to not obey God and that their desire to do do their own bidding .... I would leave that church ..that is of course if your being honest ..

The churches will eventually have no choice but to change the words in the Bible. The Bible reflects the views of primitive people which are no longer acceptable in our advanced society. The ideas of women being inferior, slavery being okay, animal sacrifice being okay, and God’s hateful wrath against entire cities, including children, are obviously unacceptable today. Christians already have to ignore large portions of the Bible that include these dark ideas. I’m sure they will eventually update their Bible.

Rewriting the bible to suit their selves is wrong.

The bible says that if anyone adds to these books the plagues therein will be added unto them and if anyone takes anything out their names will be taken out of the book of life.

To change or rewrite the bible is evil, there are some churches that have already done this. I think it shows that they are not of God.

Archeology proves The Bible, and Jesus proved Himself to me.

If you expect correctness from man, you failed to listen to prophets' words.
