The trouble with researching this type of topic on the net is that what you will mostly get is commentary and a lot of ill informed opinion, or people pushing their own agenda.
My own view from many years of working in human services, and with children, is that paedophiles are interested in kids, full stop. That is their thing. If they happen to be straight or gay in their adult sexual interest it doesn't matter because their real interest is children. It's almost like a separate thing.
As I said, that's my opinion based on my own observations, not a scholarly treatise, lol.

The actual article isn't much but the cited sources are where you would find some actual scientific answers which may be as unbiased as possible about a very controversial and difficult subject.

Pedophilia is a horse of a different color. Most times, it's about domination than anything. I don't know what the numbers are, but I doubt it's that much difference. Some may argue that pedophiles have their own sexuality. But, even if that is true, it should be stifled. I child should never have to go through that. One thing gay and straight people have in common, they like adults.

A recent book I read stated that 74% of pedophiles that raped a child of the same sex were in heterosexual relationships with a female family member of that child.
Most pedophiles are in fact "heterosexual", however heterosexual and homosexual refer only to the sex of the adult in relation to the child, not in relation to other adults. So pedophiles are into kids, it has far less to do with the gender of the kids.
Anyways I suggest you read the book "Gay men choosing parenthood", it's about a study of 20 gay men who chose to be parents in the 80s through adoption. It is sort of a dry book, but I found it actually offered me a lot of insight on parenting in general. It talks about the stuff you want to know.

But again there is no study that I've ever seen that says there's more gay pedophiles. I mean if you think about it homosexuality is a man who likes men, not a man who likes kids.

Please remember that sexual abuse of any kind actually has nothing to do with sex. Sexual abuse is about power and control over the person being abused. I believe that I read that most pedophiles are heterosexuals but I can not remember that source. Adopting a child out to a heterosexual all-american family does not protect you from placing your child into an abusive home. Pick a loving home for your child no matter the religion, race, sexual preference, or career choice.

I understand why you asked this question, even though i would probably not asked on here, you are bound to get a bit of abuse!
Gay man/women as with straight is about ADULTS consenting to sexual intercourse.
Paedophiles AND Paedophilia are being being sexually attracted primarily or exclusively to prepubescent children.
These are two VERY different categories, it's like saying are there more whites or coloured gays/straights/bi's etc etc
I suggest you make contact with someone of authority to clear up any confusion, as this is something that is playing on your mind.

Pedophile is a clinical diagnosis which you have a misunderstanding, incomprehension of and you are mis appropriating. You need to get a qualified Characterization and definition of what it means before you can ask such a question. Both women and men are Pedophiles and they are not gay they are only interested in children.

Most pedophiles are heterosexual because there are more heterosexuals in the general population. And just because someone is gay does NOT make them a pedophile - this is an old MYTH. Some gays are pedophiles, but most of them are not.
