What arguments support this claim?

My boyfriend and I of 2 1/2 years received a wedding invitation in the mail only addressed to him from a couple who KNOWS we are dating. We have actually been dating longer than they have even known each other. I'm sure its assumed that I am invited but I think its quite rude that my name is not even listed on the invitation. It doesn't even say "guest". My bf thinks I'm blowing this out of proportion but I would never do that to someone else. What do you guys think?

I just read a question here on R&S about a guy tryng to convert his 4 year daughter to christianism. (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070622073430AAlmKg3&r=w#RJUtDju6VDJ1FzRltJdrjnDep5IwvXi7hbL_94r4zDThKevOyvsb ).Now, I agree he has some serious problems of spiritual nature, still it made me really sad to read all the offensive atheist responses for this question. Atheists are always claiming to be rational, peaceful, accepting and reasonable. Also you always criticise christians for not accepting other peoples beliefs. Look at what has happened in this question, instead of tryng to help the poor guy, most of you proceeded to openly insult him. I mean most of you atheist are very intelligent reasonable people, why not tryng to explain to him that he might be too hung up on religious stuff instead of just insulting him? Woudn’t it help? Wouldn’t even get him to wonder “Hey these pagans are acctually good people, maybe i’ll grow to respect people with beliefs diferent than mine”

they stop some questions that aren't really offensive and remove them before they hit the air, that shows they do read every question before they get posted so why don't they do that to racist's sick questions ? these question still remain posted even after the asker got kicked off ? why is that ?so they can keep offending ?

OK, everyone bear with me, you are gonna like this one. atheists, I am assuming there is a God, and fundalentalists, I am assuming He created us through evolution.

OK, we evolved through the food chain, and most recently through an animal similar to a modern ape. Well, obviously apes cannot comprehend the idea of God, but we can.

So, could it be that God guided our evolution so that we would be able to communicate with Him? Could He have started us low, and guided our evolution closer and closer to the perfect creature?

Human beings are the first animal to be able to understand God. However, we can't communicate with Him. So, could it be that we just aren't evolved enough yet?

Perhaps in another million years, we will have evolved further, and we will be able to directly communicate with God.
It explains why we have no proof of God.
It explains why we evolved the way we did.

What do you guys think?

Atheists?
Believers?

FGM= female genital mutilation
A common practice in many countries of Africa and Asia.
They remove the labia and some or all of the clitoris and sew up the vagina, since according to the men that insist on it:
"Women have evil things between their legs."
Folks, this happens to 2 million little girls a year. Do a search for Waris Dirie, an author of several books on her life and this issue. Read "Desert Flower" Waris was circumcised at 5 and ran away from home at 13 when her dad wanted her to marry an old man in exchange for 5 camels.
This is NOT fiction and I think there should be a bigger outcry, especially from Afro-Americans, who have quite a lot of power compared to the poor Africans girls that often die from the practice. Why not more outcry?

Or is it just a ceremonial thing? I am not a Catholic, so I am not familiar with all of their beliefs, and my church does not have holy water.

I was wondering what you believe it can be used for and what it can do. Please forgive me for my ignorance on this matter.

I have never met anyone who has said anything bad to me (and they knew i was jewish) nor have i overheard anything negative. Yet people always tell me there are so many. I am talking about real hatred here not jokes about being cheap or stingy, every group has jokes and sterotypes, I want to know how many people really hate.

I don't HATE gay people (I have gay friends) and I would never treat someone like crap just because they are gay. I think people's business is their business. However, I do believe it is wrong and I think that society is slowly trying to push it on people like me. I'm scared that when my son is grown anyone who does not agree with it will be seen as a bigot or like a racist. Is it wrong to disagree with it and to pass my belief system on to my child?

Today I read this article: http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/article-23401615-details/'Mile-wide+UFO'+spotted+by+British+airline+pilot/article.do

It seems that UFOs have been around since the beginning of recorded history as they have been described in various ancient writings and have been depicted in ancient drawings and paintings. What do you think??

For me, it's chatting with my straight co-workers and friends about what my partner and I did over the weekend. Maybe we worked on the landscaping, went to my partner's mother's house for a family get-together, or maybe my partner fell and had to go the emergency room. Much like the way my straight co-workers and friends mention medical issues involving their spouse, what they did over the weekend, who they visited over the holidays, and where they're going on vacation.

Since it would be impossible to carry on casual conversation like this without mentioning a spouse or partner- if you have one- does this mean that my straight co-workers are equally guilty of "flaunting their sexuality", or does this only apply to gay folks- who are evidently supposed to lie about their personal lives for fear of offending someone? Do Fundamentalists actually prefer to be lied to or deliberately deceived?

Do you suspect that the leaders of organized religion will continue as they always have to claim that prayer is an effective communication between man and God; or, in the light of the recently documentated scientific study upholding the contrary argument, that prayer is ineffective, will the Pope and other religious leadership backtrack and change their course?
