I posted this question on another catagory also because I really would like some serious input from multiple sources. Do you think there is going to be a military draft with all the stuff going on? Longer deployments, More world issues ie. Iran. And do you think drafting illegal immigrants first before we grant 6 million citizenship is a good idea? We would have a pretty big army!

My floor only has one washer and dryer, and we are not allowed to use the machines on other floors. I put in my load and returned in 30 minutes to switch it to the dryer (I use a timer, so I know I am not taking too long,) Someone has propped open the door with a HUGE cart of dirty laundry. Was I rude to go ahead and put my second load in? I did get there first, and there was nobody hanging around...

[Oh, that censor!]

I moved to St. Louis, Missouri, less than four months ago. And I don't know hardly anyone here, but I'm remembering some gay times (as it were) with my friends in San Francisco before I met My Steve. Steve liked to keep his distance from gays so as not to be hit on, since he was rather ideal "gay bait." But he committed suicide over a year ago, and it's time for me to re-assert my own style: Big Mama who wants friends to hang out with.

How do I break into the scene in St. Louis, or more specifically University City? I don't have a car, and don't even know how to drive, so I must plan my outings with care. No "just go hang out" will work unless it's on the Loop, since I can walk there. I don't feel like I can even identify the gay bars, let alone walk in and get a rousing chorus of "Hello, Dolly!"

i was just wondering if any of you guys have been baptized. if so in what name? i was baptized in Jesus' name. Acts 2:38
plus from the book Acts all the way to the end of the bible everyone that was baptized was baptized in Jesus' name. thats what Peter Paul and the other apostles baptized in.

Some confusing in the last one, i am FOR tattoos. Relgion says no marks or cuts FOR THE DEAD. also says, no mirrors or piercings. No interracial marriage. No pork. You may not wear a garment made of two different fabrics. And, my fave, if a man is troubled GIVE HIM A STRONG DRINK!!!
But, so why are tattoos, body piercings and body modifacations so frowned upon?

Do you apply both of these attitudes to ALL sins a Christian may commit?

Let me clarify...

I've been told on several occasions that it's unfair to hold Christians to a higher standard because they're "only human" and that sinning doesn't make them a bad Christian so long as they repent and ask for forgiveness. I've also been told on several occasions that all sin is equal in the eyes of the Lord, so Christians shouldn't impose their human judgements on whether one offense against the Lord is more egregious than another.

So here's my real question:

If one Christians steals a pen and another Christian murders someone, do you apply "hey, they're only human, of course they sin" to both, keeping in mind that God considers them equal offenses in his sight?

Is stealing a pen "hey, it's just one sin, it happens"?
Is murder "hey, it's just one sin, it happens"?

In the Old Testament, God seems to intervene in human affairs a lot. For example, Moses was able to call down airstrikes from God against the Jew's enemies, the homosexuals were brimstoned in Soddom and Gomora, and the even the Red Sea was moved around. Why don't we see these interventions nowadays? Surely based on track record, God should be sending earthquakes though the Gaza strip and firing lighting bolts into the gay clubs of San Francisco? What is the Christian explaination for this change of affairs?

Are vampires the symbol of people who would not accept christianity in the past, the pagans, jews and all? Like them being labelled as blooddrinkers, for the blood is the life according to christianity.
Symbolism like them being afraid of the cross and all! So essentially it was the the so called vampires being hunted by christians for the spread of christianity and today it has come to be associated with something supernatural!

There have been so many prophecies in the Bible that would if looked through prove to people that it were true but still people say it's unbelievable. An example is in Psalms 22 it says that the Christ would be peirced through the hands and feet though that was 800 years before people were crucified as a means of exucution. Who can make correct prophecies every time besides some one that lives outside of the demension of time?

I was dragged to a family dinner the other day, and listened to a conversation my sister's friends were having:

They wanted to take bellydancing classes. They went to a gym where they heard they gave very good classes. But they said once they saw the instructor they decided not to take classes because the instructor was a man, and a man could not teach bellydancing.

I think this sexism because no one ever says a woman doctor can't give a man a physical because she's a woman.

That's not right!!!

Isn't it better we help one another regardless of our individual beliefs? Undeniably, we can all agree we are here on planet earth and there is now. Can we make a loving memory out of R&S? For all of us....funny responses or sincere, they are all "good" for a smile...what can we do to make a positve memory?

Although I'm not a JW, I want to know how you honestly feel about the below mentioned points.

Serious thoughtful replies only. (If you hesitated when reading that, please post elsewhere).

1. If you look throughout history, all major forms of religions (Jews, Arabs, Hindus, Protestants, Muslims, Christians) have engaged in warfare with other groups or even amongst themselves (mine included). But jehovah's witnesses have not done so historically.

2. If the bible said that the good news is to be preached to the ends of the earth, then why haven't other groups done so? Ok, some churches may say they have missionaries, but is this being done GLOBALLY? JW's are everywhere. Islands, major continents, rural areas, indigenous lands.

What gives? It's annoying having them knock at doors, but objectively, what other religions come close? Mormons?
