Personally I would prefer not to use black ink as I find it difficult to read against white paper given that I have dyslexia. However as I work in a hospital, I have to document everything in Black in as historically blue ink did not photocopy well, but these days blue is just ad good as black at being photocopied. Only pharmacists use green ink and red is only used to show the temperature of an incubator.

Banning black ink is ridiculous, just like the move to ban teachers using red ink. It shouldn't matter what colour ink you use as long as your writing is legible (unlike almost every surgeon and orthopaedic I've ever met!).

Yes, it is made up. I work at a care home for elderly people with Alzheimers and every shift we have to write a daily report. It MUST be written in black in order to be photocopied, but also if an original copy is needed for social services, relatives, police etc it has to be in black. (Mood, eating, medication, activities, visits from relatives, etc).

I am glad someone is finally doing something about racist office practices.

This is just one more way that whites subtly put down people of color.

I am Asian and I have long been offended by the use of "Yellow Legal Pads." What is that supposed to mean?

I think its racist and "Yellow Legal Pads" should be banned from offices along with the "Black Pens."

Oops!...I'll also have to throw away all my pencils and charcoal that I use to sketch with. I'm sure that yahoo will also change the font colour so that they comply. Perhaps you could tell your friend when you next see her that all car number plates are also going to be changed to blue. See how she answers you, that way you'll know if she really is just being gullible, or is pretending to be.

I have faith that you surely, not for one second believed this crap! Your workmate needs to tell you her source and they should have all the black pens jump her. That was an outragious comment!

This has nothing to do with racism.
If you sign a document using black, it is difficult to determine if the document has been copied. If you sign in blue, then even a layman can see that the signature is not original.

Indeed it is not! White is the new black. All the employees in my office are using the new 'tippex' pens. I'm surprised you have not received a memorandum to this effect.

This is definetly "Crap" as you so succinctly put it. They don't allow black ink because you can't tell if a document is a copy, or the original.

I work within one of the most politically correct organisations there are and we are encouraged to use black ink 'cos it can be photocopied for instance.
Your friend's heard wrong, been had, or having you on.

It's bollocks. It's "rude" to write with a red pen. I prefer writing with a black pen myself.
