In the Old Testament, God seems to intervene in human affairs a lot. For example, Moses was able to call down airstrikes from God against the Jew's enemies, the homosexuals were brimstoned in Soddom and Gomora, and the even the Red Sea was moved around. Why don't we see these interventions nowadays? Surely based on track record, God should be sending earthquakes though the Gaza strip and firing lighting bolts into the gay clubs of San Francisco? What is the Christian explaination for this change of affairs?

The Old Testament is like the childhood of humanity. It s hard for us to understand . The new Testament is what really matters, since Jesus came to change those severe times. with His message of love and forgiveness and mercy. He created us free to choose. He loves all His creation and childs, even and specially the sinners, the gays as you mention. Read hoe Jesus get in touch with worst and the poor. Remember the prodigal son for example. Remember in the cross he promessed the thief besiddes him he will be in paradise that same day, and so on. We live through faith and no questioning what God does or not. It s an interesting question to answer, but little space. So, focus on the New Testament better.

This is a period of grace. God didn't speak for 400 years between the Old and New Testament. Then the birth of Christ, His Son. It began a new ERA where Christ is God living among mankind. His death, burial, and resurrection was God's intervention on behalf of mankind. It's up to man to accept or reject Christ and this period is to allow man that opportunity before the destruction and judgment of the world. God will intervene one more time when Christ comes with His army to fight Satan and the enemies of God. The world will be destroyed and God will make a new earth and a new heaven and set up a new Jerusalem.

Jesus!

like it says in the bible, if you believe in him you are not under the law and he was the sacrificial lamb that shed his blood for you and he full filled the law and nailed it to the cross (colossians 2:14). He full filled the law at the cross. God will remember your sins no more (Hebrews 10:17). You are a sinner and will always be a sinner (1 John 1: 8 - 10)

By the justification of your faith AND NOT OF YOUR WORKS you are saved by him! If not then he died in vain!

God is giving us a chance to believe the one he sent (John 3: 16 - 18)

If you have faith in God and do his will then you will be rapture, if not then you will go through tribulation and you do not want to be here when that comes.

If you do not believe then you are still under the law!

SO IN TH END GOD HAS PATIENCE UNTIL HIS SON RETURNS!

How do you know God isn't doing things right now? In the old days things were different, the earth wasn't the complete satanically controlled sess-pool is it now and God mainly dealt with Israel for a designated period of time! Once Christ showed up and fulfilled his mission of breaking the curse of death and setting humans free things changed! You are about to see God do some things you wish you wouldn't see very soon! Everything in it's appointed time!

I believe that the Christian explanation is that the old testament was filled with shadows and types. After Jesus, who is the substance and fulfillment of such, God sent His Spirit to be the mediation between God and man. No longer would God deal with humanity through a chosen leader, but now on an individual basis through His Spirit.

Jesus told us and said study to show yourself approved
Now why would God intervene when no one would accept him or his Son Jesus

He doesn't need to anymore. Under the old covenant, He used to do these things to communicate His Will and feelings of anger towards His chosen people, the Israelites. Since Christ was crucified, we have a new covenant. We have His Word to tell us what He wants from us. We are expected to choose by faith whether we follow His guidance and become part of the saved/chosen or choose the other side and suffer miserably for eternity away from Him.

I do think Mother Nature is sending us messages daily. But mankind does not like listening. Pretty soon however their won't be a soul who doesn't hear Her and if we don't liston we human beings are not going to be around for too much longer. Then we can all stand around in heaven and tell all the christians "I told you so!"
