In the Bible, it says that there's only ONE faith, and ONE baptism. So why are there so many different Christain faiths, and so many different Christain baptisms? Is there one that's more right than the others?

Were you disillusioned? Did you lose trust in your parents? Did it confirm what you already suspected (what w/ all those Mall Santas). Just curious what it felt like.

Say a co-worker gets a bit upset and takes it out on you. How do you not get angry and retaliate?
Remember you are at work....
Do you handle it after work? Talk about it then?

I believe in aliens, but i don't think that they are carbon based life forms like we are, i think that they are more like silicon based life forms... but i don't think that we will be visited by them, and if we were what makes you think that they would take the time to befriend a inferior species? i think they would just enslave us... so what's your opinion on all things alien?

There is a young woman is having a commitment ceremony with her partner later this month. This same woman was also a bridesmaid in the wedding of a mutual friend of ours. She went to both phases of the bachelorette party (taking the bride out, and the party at the house later) and did not contribute any money to cover costs. The rest of us has to cover her portion as she was "strapped for cash". She then attended the wedding and did not buy a gift for the couple.

Now she has planned a ceremony for herself at 530pm on a weekday (so it's free) and a "buy-your-own" reception dinner at a local restaurant. Not to mention that she has registered at several upscale home stores for gifts.

Long story short, is it inappropriate to mention these details to her? Or just boycott the ceremony in general? Or should everyone just shut up and let bygones be bygones?

Would you want it fast and over with, or have time to say goodbye and wrap things up first?

(I'd rather die in a plane crash than from a long disease.)

When I first got on here, I thought it would be a nice learning experience with other christians or believers in religion/spirituality. I have a hard time understanding why Atheists are even on here, if they believe in no gods or goddess and they believe not in the terms "good & evil" but rather to term it as "what is acceptable and not acceptable in society", Why if they believe in nothing religious or spiritual are they posting on this section of Religion/Spirituality, they should be posting more on Political issues. Do you think?

What is the purpose? Is it fair of God to make us worship him like he is a rock star and punish us if we go against his wishes? Is that fair?

Is it pride (or presumption) for someone to say she is 100% sure she's going to heaven? Many "born-again" Christians claim to KNOW they're "saved" and believe that ANY doubt of this is sin. But didn't St. Paul say, "If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead"? That doesn't sound like 100% certainty. Doesn't "faith," by its very definition, mean that there is NOT 100% certainty? Isn't a difference between say "I believe in something with all my heart" and "I know that beyond a shadow of a doubt"? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this one!

Why is it when upon meeting someone new and them learning that my child is autistic, the first words from their mouths are "Oh, I'm sorry"?

This is the case about 90% of the time. Why is this said without any further knowledge of me or my child? We don't need or desire pity. What compells people to assume we do?

To me - the root of the problem is our society's view of autistics and any diabled person in general.

Does anyone else think the stigma is kept alive and well by some of the larger organizations who claim to be the voice of our children? These organizations are notorious for portraying autism in the most pitiful light and rarely focus on the positives. They characterize our children as puzzles and as having bleak futures. Then they tug on society's heartstrings with these portrayals so they can raise more money to further their own agendas.

I hope a day will come soon when people will value and respect autistics and all disabled persons. Anyone else?
