I thought the bible was for dummies?

Interesting question, I think. I'd like to explain the Christian perspective, if I may. My position on it is that the phrase has become a little cliched - but the principle behind it is good. I think there are a couple of ways to look at it. The first is how God relates to people (and I'm talking about the Christian God here). Before you become a Christian you, most probably, have some sin in your life. The Bible says "all have sinned and fallen short of God's standards". So that person is a sinner. Yet somehow, that person can experience something of the love of God and become a Christian. There are famous examples, for example John Newton, who was a slave trader, but found God, and ended up writing one of our best known Hymns, Amazing Grace. Did God hate the sin? Yes - slave trading is abhorrent to God. Of course God hates that. Did God hate John Newton? No, absolutely not - God showed His love in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us and in 1 John 4 is says we love becuase God loved us first. The second way is how we relate to others. Now I start off by saying we Christians are far from perfect, but taking God as our role model, we should be loving the person. In fact people. In my small way I practice this - I try to live it out. Another thought on this is that its not what we do that causes God to love us - its what we are. We are human being, created in the image and likeness of God. That's why He loves us - because we are human beings, not human doings ;) Kind regards, Mike

Because the Bible is a single book and a single (mostly) philosophy.

Atheism is not that homogenous. There are many different sorts fo atheists, from those who believe in no spiritual realm of any kind, to Satanists, to Buddhists, etc. The only thing these have in common is that they believe there is no god. Other than that, there is a multitude of beliefs, which are unlikely to be able to be contained in a single volume.

I guess because there is no market for it. Not surprising that there is a huge market for "bible for dummies"! Atheists (I am not one) are typically fairly intelligent and often think for them selves. It is only ignorance that begs to be told what to do and follows blindly.

We are all familiar with the usual arguments,as well as the conclusion of science. You cannot prove or disprove the existence of God. Case closed.

Further instruction is only required for more complex subjects. The simple can already readily understand simple-minded ideas without additional help.
Or maybe it just goes to show how much more popular the bible is than atheism.

You don't need a book for that. The Bible says that the fool in his heart says there's no God.

I don't believe in Atheists.

Because to be an atheist is to already be a dummy...

Ha..? No...okay...bad joke.

(No offense. The opportunity was open and it was only said in jest. Even though I know most all of the atheists on here are very smart people, I know someone will get angry with me...but the true atheists who are smart...they won't get angry...thus if you get angry...I guess you're the dummy)
