I was teaching a 7th grade class about this and they kept questioning it so I told them I would wash their feet the next Sunday.
It was way more humbling for them than me. It was hard for them to let me wash their feet................that was unexpected to me.

Wow, both would be a humble experience. I am real shy and personal about my feet and wont even get a pedicure. I think it would be even more humble to wash the stranger's feet.

I do wash stranger's feet. I take care of people with wounds that are difficult to heal. Often, their skin needs to be cared for, too. Many of these people are elderly and chronically ill. We take for granted the gift of touch. When a person is anxious or afraid, simply holding their hand and listening to them can make such a difference.
Washing someone's feet doesn't necessarily come with the job description, but caring for that person as a human being always does in my opinion.
Over the years, these people have been my greatest teachers. They show me tremendous strength, courage and even humor, often in the midst of great adversity. I marvel at their ability to keep going on a day to day basis. I am often humbled by their example and I am glad to have known them.

I'd rather wash a stranger's feet. I feel humbled when people even look at my feet, they are ever so ugly. I love pretty shoes but never wear open toe sandals even on the beach.

I think they both are humbling...In my faith we believe that we should humble our hearts by washing the feet of our brother and sisters in Christ...I think that it is more humbling to wash a stranger's feet

I would rather wash a stranger's feet.
I would just be more comfortable.
It is far too humbling to have someone else wash mine.

Both happen at our church during Holy Thursday Mass.
You are correct that it is a great exercise in humility. We are called to be humble and to serve others. We also need to allow others to serve us in certain circumstances.
