The reason for this is simple. People are like sheep and their leaders are like Shepherds. The sheep-like people trust and follow their Shepherds. However the true shepherd teaches his sheep the truth.( Using The Holy Scriptures)
Jesus forwarned us to be on the watch!
(Matthew 7:15) . . .“Be on the watch for the false prophets that come to YOU in sheep’s covering, but inside they are ravenous wolves.. . .
(Acts 20:29-30) . . .I know that after my going away oppressive wolves will enter in among YOU and will not treat the flock with tenderness, 30 and from among YOU yourselves men will rise and speak twisted things to draw away the disciples after themselves.
To find out if the shepherd is a good one, just ask the sheep to see what fruit they bare? (Matthew 7:16-20) . . .By their fruits YOU will recognize them. Never do people gather grapes from thorns or figs from thistles, do they? 17 Likewise every good tree produces fine fruit, but every rotten tree produces worthless fruit; 18 a good tree cannot bear worthless fruit, neither can a rotten tree produce fine fruit. 19 Every tree not producing fine fruit gets cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Really, then, by their fruits YOU will recognize those [men].
(Matthew 15:8-9) . . .‘This people honors me with their lips, yet their heart is far removed from me. 9 It is in vain that they keep worshiping me, because they teach commands of men as doctrines.’”
People are like the sheep in the sense that they just follow with out testing their fruit to see if it is good? to be more direct they follow commands of men, and those men cause divisions, this causes denominations. People love togettheir ears tickled. (2 Timothy 4:3-4) . . .For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories.. . .
I hope this helps to explain why? if notfeel freetoask.

Protestants don't have a much needed central authority to interpret the Bible. We all know what the Bible says, but what does it mean? For example, the U.S. needs the Supreme Court to interpret the consitution. In the same way, Roman Catholicsim is whole and unified for 2000 years and more to come, because it has the sacred Magesterium, the teaching authority from the Bishops in union with the Holy Father, the Pope! GOd bless.

There are many denominations....but still - there is only one Lord, one Faith, one Baptism. All Baptized persons are members of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church - the Nicene Creed knows of only one Church - and of that Church we are made members when we are Baptized.
Denominations are man-made. The Church is God-made - with Jesus Christ as the Head of the Body, the Church. Not "churches" - but - THE Church. St. Paul said that....not me.

If there are thousands of arguments going on in Yahoo! R&S, then it's easy to see why there woould be thousands of arguments about the true, or rather, original nature of christianity.
The biggest difference between many denominations is the importance of the Holy Spirit.

There are many 'denominations in America presentlydue to the FACT that many people have not separated what the scriptures tell us from the BIBLE. There are additions and subtractions from scripture presently in most Bibles.

as much as things change they stay the same. This sibling rivalry goes all the way back to Cain and Able, manifesting itself the most noticeably to today's problems with Joseph of the Old Testament and his brothers. They were jealous of Joseph because he had the Mother that the Father loved best and they hated him for it.

best place to go..the bible!
what did Jesus say?
"You say I came to bring peace unto the earth??? NAY I TELL YOU! BUT DIVISION(greek word is diamerismos=difference of opinion or conduct) LUke 12:51
jesus himself brought division to the body....many demoninations only one truth. Jesus returns at the 7th trump and finds only 2 of 7 world churches teaching his truth. Glad i'm in 1 of the 2! good luck.

It's obvious, isn't it? What better way for Satan to confuse people and distort the Word of God than making many denominations with different belief's, when God says there is one way, Jesus.

Ask Martin Luther and the Protestants. For over 1500 years there was only one church and that was the Catholic Church
