I posed a question before about how it's Gen Ex's time to stand up and be the driving force behind economic and social issues in this country. I then stated that our economical and social activiity is focused more on the baby boomers who care more about themselves then future generations. I was called an "ingrate", "bast****", and a few other choice words from the baby boomers. So who's with me? The baby boomers just don't get it right?? They just don't get it...

...as a response to those who seem to merely parrot scripture when responding to questions about who or what God is?

Some claim that a God exists and loves, protects, cherishes its children, followed by numerous citations of scripture. Would it be appropriate to follow up such with lists of say the human death tolls in natural disasters (e.g. 500,000 dead in a massive earthquake in China; 10,000 dead in some landslide in Peru, 50,000 dead from some typhoon in Indonesia)?

I'd argue these would be more factual than the scriptural quotations since human deaths are tangible and quantifiable, whereas the statements in scripture, though inspiring, seem a bit more challenging to prove, save on faith alone.

You’re in the grocery store and see a husband and wife walking down an isle. They appear to have two children, a young girl and a young boy. The boy is obviously handicapped and in a wheelchair, but he seems happy. Behind them, is another family, a woman and her little girl. Being a good Christian, you look around you, and decide to approach one of the families and ask to pray for them. Be honest, who would you choose?

Both believed they were wrongfully accused.
Both wept.
Both did not eat enough food.
Both were convicted and then taunted by a crowd of cheering peers.
Both came back on the third day.

Come on, I know there must be more similarities.

If God has always been here and didn't need a creator, why can't the same logic be applied to the Universe and Time and Reality?
Why can't the universe have no need for a creator?

My neighbors are always striping and running around naked in the upper floor bedrooms with the drapes open, I think they know it is easy to see out of my side window. One of the girls has a very impressive body. Is it immoral for me to watch? Is it immoral to take videos of it for my own purposes?

I am not asking this from a theist or atheist angle.
I just want to get thoughts from both sides.

If the existence of a higher power, cannot be proved or disproved, doesn't it stand to reason the being a theist or an atheist are both a matter of faith?

And, as far as burden of proof goes, if one believes in God, I do not think it is a person's place to try and proof his existence to someone. Seeing that it is a matter of faith, trying to proof his existence defeats the purpose, one just wastes there breath trying in vain to proof to someone he exists. I think it should be left to each individual to decide.

Ok so what I've gotten from this:

God is an entity that has always existed, and created the universe, therefore he doesn't have to apply to the rules of the universe,

God created man in "his image", so God is this human-like person floating around in nonexistance for some reason beyond what we can fathom.

Is it just a great coincidence that "he just always was" , or is it just because that's a much easier explanation than actually trying to find out the answer to why we are here?

I'm sorry if my question is demeaning, but the "he just always was" is a cop-out answer.

I am trying to find a christian symbol for the words love, hope, and faith. I want to get a tattoo that represents these words. Does anyone know what it is, or where I can find a picture of it?

I was also looking for symbols of life, as well as love/hate.

Thanks

Can science understand time as infinite?
Meaning
not measurable: without any finite or measurable limits

If Science does not believe in time as infinity, then how long ago can they say the planet or the universe has been in exsistence since infinity cannot be measured?

Luke.1
[1] Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us,
[2] Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word;
[3] It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus,
[4] That thou mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed.

I am beginning a Bible Study in the book of Acts and it led me to this first Scripture in the Gospel of Luke.

I read this answere here once:
"What if there was no heaven and no God , then would ppl have a reasonto be nice? If this were true I believe more ppl would : murder, rape, steal etc.. b/c there would be no incentive to do anything but be the worst you could be."

This is possibly the worst attitude I've ever heard of in my life. I don't believe in God, I know many people that don't believe in God. And we NEVER do any of these horrible acts, nor do we have any desire to. We are all very nice people to everyone we meet.
What does this say about Christians?

Does it say that all Christians are horrible people inside and they are only nice because of their belief and hope of getting to Heaven?

Why not be a nice person for the sake of humanity?
