I read this answere here once:
"What if there was no heaven and no God , then would ppl have a reasonto be nice? If this were true I believe more ppl would : murder, rape, steal etc.. b/c there would be no incentive to do anything but be the worst you could be."

This is possibly the worst attitude I've ever heard of in my life. I don't believe in God, I know many people that don't believe in God. And we NEVER do any of these horrible acts, nor do we have any desire to. We are all very nice people to everyone we meet.
What does this say about Christians?

Does it say that all Christians are horrible people inside and they are only nice because of their belief and hope of getting to Heaven?

Why not be a nice person for the sake of humanity?

No doubt. Radical religious people are the reason why religion is slowly dying. Good example. This dude was eating lunch next to me last week and he points up to this guy like 4 rows ahead of me at the lunch table. He says, "He doesn't go to church. He's going to hell." I just shake my head and said, "Whatever." The like 2 weeks later the guy who he made fun of, whom is a nice guy, told me he was at the bar with his girlfriend and Derek the one who said that about him, went up to him in the bar and said he wanted to take his girlfriend by the legs.....He did some motion where it was above his head and he was like licking something but anyways you get it..........

Just because you go to church doesn't mean that all is forgiven and people who don't goto church are good people also. Its all what you think in your head. Not what some book told you to do.

Good morning pard, No; Christians ( in general terms and speaking from a personal view point) are essentially the same people that they were before they decided that god was real to them and also decided to try to change what they perceived about them selves to need improvement. If they were not nice people before because of personal viewpoints and bad habits ( drug addictions etc) and they decided that those things were holding them back from happiness and stopped. then someones perception that being a christian now, and that did it; changed them, would be a normal conclusion. The act of saying you are a christian and living a life of a christian ( perceived by the worlds outside view and a christian peer groups view) will differ. Even in a so- called christian group there is some times a judgmental attitude about this person doing this or that person doing that. Why ? Its normal human behavior. You don;t change to this super-normal being because you chose to believe in God. Your choice to change; knowing people on the out side of your experience are going to be watching you and judging you by their understanding of how they always heard a christian should behave, think , act.
No, good people try to improve. some do well, others stumble and have to decide if they really want to place their lives in Gods grasp or chose for themselves.
Its gods greatest gift...
Freedom to choose...
Have a great day!!!

Romans 13:2 and John 19:eleven the two point out that the authority of the secular state is instituted with the aid of God, and that all people Christians would desire to obey it. The exception to this rule is that if the state says that Christians would be unable to hold forth the gospel (a million Peter 4:14-15). luckily, the form protects our marvelous to try this. of direction the recognize God is extra substantial than something secular, to me, and could be to each Christian. although, not all people is Christian, so i does not assume non-believers to sense the comparable way.

Not all Christians belief if you are not christian you are a horrible person...so the answer is no.......but I do believe that I would be a sinner. My mother and father are not Christians and they are not horrible..same with my best friend. If any Christan says if you are not christian if you are a horrible person they are sinning because it is very clear in the Bible to love everyone and not to judge them b/c its not our place. So other then that I personally believe you should be nice to others out of respect for yourself and yeah for the sake of humanity.

Atheists have morals and ethics just the same as anyone else. You cannot assume Christianity has a monopoly on these traits.

There are plenty of Christians who have murdered, raped and pillaged. In fact, the bible gloats in one place about killing every man woman and child in one town - so the blood was so deep it was up to their knees no less. And, God, in this instance was so incensed, he demanded that the TREES be killed.

The Christian god also states that he is a vengeful God.

Your own morals are what you make them. Regardless of faith, most people agree you should not steal, commit adultery, murder, rape, etc. This is common sense and not a Chritian-only thing.

well, to answer that question, im a catholic and the reason i believe in god, (except for the part that my whole generation has already followed this religion) is because god gives me some strength and hope in this life. I mean, life wouldn't be easy if we don't have any one to believe in, and every time life gets rough, god is the one i pray to, and therefore i believe that bad things won't happen to me because god is beside me to protect me. Therefore, since my God is watching me, there is no reason to be bad. Even though he's an invisible, but the belief of a catholic(an)(?) is still strong.

No, it says that whoever answered that was immature and unwise. Our personalities and traits are the same if we are a Christian or not. Why do you think there's so many people that claim "Christianity" and do atrocious things? There's good people and bad people who are Christian and non. It's a matter of NOT giving in to sinful desires as a Christian, be it lying, cheating.. whatever.. that's more a self control issue.

A lot of Christians are horrible people. So are a lot of non-Christians. And even serial killers obey most laws most of the time. Every time they catch a serial killer they interview a co-worker or neighbor who says, "He was such a nice person. I just can't believe he was capable of doing those things." There is no one so bad that there isn't some good in him, and there is no one so good that he couldn't do something terribly immoral under the right circumstances.

I think what you are referring to (although poorly worded) is the debate regarding the purpose of life if there is no god. If a god exists, and has created us with a purpose, then we have a choice to attempt to fulfill this purpose. If there is no god, then what should we strive for? I can have ten children and put them all through medical school. I can amass millions of dollars, and maybe give it to charity. I can create the finest works of art. In the end, does it matter? We all still die.

I'm still up in the air regarding my beliefs. However I sure hope that there is some difference between what happened to Hitler and Mother Theresa when they died.

No, I wouldn't be a horrible person, not really. I wasn't a horrible person before I became a Christian, either. I did swear a lot, though, and I drank a LOT more alcohol...but other than that, my life hasn't really changed at all.

I think people CAN be good without believing in God...but no one's perfect, whether they're religious or not.
