I am not asking this from a theist or atheist angle.
I just want to get thoughts from both sides.
If the existence of a higher power, cannot be proved or disproved, doesn't it stand to reason the being a theist or an atheist are both a matter of faith?
And, as far as burden of proof goes, if one believes in God, I do not think it is a person's place to try and proof his existence to someone. Seeing that it is a matter of faith, trying to proof his existence defeats the purpose, one just wastes there breath trying in vain to proof to someone he exists. I think it should be left to each individual to decide.

sorry for the typos, "prove" not "proof."

You're 100% correct!
Both are based on belief, which means both require faith, in one form or another.
If suddenly proof was presented one way or the other, then faith and belief would no longer apply, as fact now takes their place. At one time people believed the earth was flat. That belief disappeared when it was proven that the earth is round. Fact took the place of belief.
God bless and take care.

Well, it is up to each individual to decide. However, once a person becomes a Christian and really understands and believes not just in God, but that the evidence proves His existence and that Jesus was God in the flesh, it is at that moment that the Christian must do as our master commands. He commands that we go out and tell others the good news. A Christian can't disobey that direct order. We are to do this. Not forcefully, but when the opportunity arises we are called to be able to give an answer for the hope that we have.
Faith without conviction is nothing!

Not really. Truth is built on empirical evidence of collected facts. Nothing implied can stand before Truth. Faith is implied reasoning without a full foundation of facts. All religions are based in Faith. No religion is built on absolute Truth. Most religions are built on some few facts and many voids that are filled via the creativity of the human mind. Belief is the acceptance of those creations of the human mind.

It's difficult to communicate the difference. Faith would require action in confidence in order to define faith in the Biblical Greek -- in God's direction, or away from God's direction. There is no neutral gear to that in Biblical Greek.
I can have a belief and put no trust in it. I merely believe. That might be evidenced in those who say that they believe in God, without doing anything to prove it.

The problem with that line of thought is that it leads to an intellectual free zone, where no rules apply. Atheists believe that which can be seen, tested, and analyzed with repeatable results. When science proves one of our previous notions to be incorrect we adjust to adapt to the new information. Taking anything on faith leaves you closed to accepting new information that proves your notions wrong. Faith precludes reason.

Yes, every belief is a matter of faith, whether it be matters of religion or believing your team will win the tournament.
When we substitude belief for Truth we are destined to wander in the wilderness.

Yes. But there is also a little faith involved in believing that there is no invisible dragon behind you right now.

D.N.A. has information in it. How did that information get there? There is proof of God's existence out side of Faith or even the Bible. Look at a car. Who made it "Ford". Who made us. "IF" God is real then the words He said is real. The Ten Commandments. If I kill some one I am going to prison and if I tell a lie the I am going to Hell. We may want to seek God's Savor ( Jesus ). Please look into it your self.

Certainly you're right, but don't expect either the hardcore believers or atheists to chime in with their agreement.
