I am not convinced that the intelligent design hypothesis qualifies as legitimate science. Neither are these 38 Nobel Laureates: http://media.ljworld.com/pdf/2005/09/15/nobel_letter.pdf In light of this, I hope there are some intelligent design advocates out there that can make a convincing case. Please, without relying on religious rhetoric, answer these questions:

1. What, specifically, do intelligent design advocates hypothesize? On what observation is this hypothesis based?

2. What data has been collected to support the hypothesis?

3. How is the hypothesis falsifiable?

4. How would you respond to the criticism that intelligent design appears to be a theory drawn up to support an ideology, rather than to explain observable phenomena?

5. An important characteristic of a scientific theory is that it cannot be proven correct. Instead, it is meant to function as a logical, predictive model. Why do so many intelligent design advocates, then, present their theory as "fact?"

Mat 5:44 - But I tell you, Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who revile you, and persecute you.

What if you respond in less than loving ways toward someone on Yahoo! Answers? Is Jesus saying doing so is a sin? What should you do to restore wholeness?

Does the following verses effect how you respond?

Matt. 5:23-24 - So if you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

What, then, is the proper way for Christians who lack charity to reconcile themselves to their fellow Y!A user and to their God?

Can theists ever appreciate this level of courage?

I do believe animals have a soul, so that's not my question.... my question is this; If you believe that animals have a soul for instance cats, do you believe they can choose to come back to their owners again in human form... such as a child?

is anyone else embarrassed by the fact that people in other countries can read these stupid questions and see all of the misspelled words? i can't figure out what half of these people are asking. it seems like you have to decode their messages by making a lot of assumptions just to get them to make some small amount of sense.

Some of my dreams are confused and cluttered, while others are seriously just weird. Last year I kept getting almost "3-D" sort of dreams and I wake up after them with a feeling of being watched. One of them includes a donut and catwalk music in the background... Some dreams feel like an intense light is shining and when I open my eyes I get blinded by light. In these I can barely move and I'm usually not enjoying them. Most dreams are freakishly weird like me reaching up to get a donut being held by an angel in a thought bubble but only to be woken up when I touch it... Any ideas?

but alas, where in the bible are the laws of thermodynamics written? is it yet another example of something men came up with that is not included in the supposed bood of everything by god? surely if thermodynamics were the best way to prove god he would have written them down somewhere. instead we get a flat earth [1], rain and hail kept in storehouses in the sky [2] and animals that give birth to spotted and striped offspring due to rods in front of which they had sex. [3] that is practically the opposite of a well thought out thermodynamics argument. just like man created the age of accountability, the age of consent in marriage, most of our ethics, we also created the idea of thermodynamics.

2. Job 38:22
Have you entered the storehouses of the snow, or have you seen the storehouses of the hail?
3. Genesis 30:37-39
it's a miracle.

There are really only three approaches you can take to the Bible - you can take it completely literally, you can decide some of it is metaphorical, or you can decide it is completely metaphorical.

It is logically impossible to believe in every word of the Bible literally, as it is written. It contains far too many contradictions.

Yet, if you wish to believe that portions are metaphorical, how do you decide which are and which are not? It is argument over the "interpretation" of various parts of the Bible that has split Christianity into so many denominations. I do not wish to take part in a faith that requires human beings to have to "interpret" and ancient book. I would rather get my knowledge of spirituality from the scientific, physical world, which is not metaphorical.

I can't accept the premise that the WHOLE Bible is one big collection of metaphors, because there's too many real facts in it.

I'm tired of guys talking to me about sports. I have two options, either pretend that I know what the hell they're talking about, and then when they ask me a question (whether I agree or disagree) look like a complete fool for saying something stupid. Or tell them straight up that I am not into sports, then I have to go into a long winded explanation as to why I don't like watching sports while they look at me like I am from another world.

It doesn't matter that they are out of shape couch potatoes while I am outgoing, active and fit who actually plays sports (just don't like watching them), they still think I'm like gay or something (even though I get more kitty cat then them....but that's another story)

I realize its a great ice breakers between guys, especially if you don't know em (ie:"guy one: awkward silence, guy two: more awkward silence, guy one: "how bout them yankees", guy two: " I like boston"... yata yata yata)

So what do you think I should do?

Simply said, if we chose to ignore the workings of karma, we tend to create many problems for ourselves. For example, if we like to have something expensive, but we cannot afford it, it becomes very tempting to steal. If we are smart and attentive enough, we may never be caught stealing. However, by stealing, we create problematic situations for ourselves in the future, like poverty, or being the victim of robbers. Therefore, if we chose to ignore karma, the results of our actions will still haunt us.

Every mainstream religion teaches us about the consequences of our actions. The explanations may differ, but does it really matter in the end whether the law of karma causes us trouble or God himself in his final judgement?

What do you think?
