I can think of many dead people I think made an important contribution to society but if one of them was a dead parent of mine the public arena would be the last place I would display their corpse.

I was in a bar in Gernany once and the bartender put a drink in front of me that I hadn't ordered. I said I hadn't ordered it but he said I always drank it. Turns out someone who looked just like me was a regular at the bar. Anyone actually met their spitting image? (other than identical twins!)

Why are there some christians that still think the mix of religion and state is "right and lawful". I mean , I heard them explain that the U.S was supposed to be a christian nation and they provide the Declaration of Independence as "proof" that is was because of the word "god" written in it, but what they need to know is that the Declaration of Independence does not represent any law of the United States. It came before the establishment of our lawful government (the Constitution). The Constitution forms a secular document, and nowhere does it appeal to God, Christianity, Jesus, or any supreme being. The first amendment states that
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances." Making religion into law and requirements breaks the first amendment.

I see people trying to cope with the emotion of fear everyday.

We fear change, so we fight against ideas that would destabilize our long held beliefs.
We fear each other, so we distance ourselves in public and avoid communication.
We fear other nations and their beliefs which lead to wars.
We're afraid of the unknown of death, but afraid to "really live our lives to the fullest".

Do you find this to be true or do you find another emotion to be of more influence? If so, what?

Why are people so hateful? How can a people be so hateful and two faced that they support both David Duke AND Louis Farrakhan? It baffles me.

Is it not a bit sick that, several years after her tragic death, the Royals are planning a concert for princess Di ?

Can't they just let her rest in peace, instead of continuing to use her name to help improve their standing in the eyes of the public ?

What's next - a party for Pinochet ?

my friend luke and i have been talking back and forth about what the bible says about homosexuality and bisexuality. he started offending me, i'm bi. he was saying things like, 'jesus loves you, he just hates your sin.' i know what the bible says in leviticus. but 'homosexuality being an abomination' means that Jesus prefers that you be strait, but since sexual preference is not a choice, he will still accept gays and bi's into heaven. i got offended and told him that, 'if sexual preference was a choice, i would have gotten rid of being bi 7 years ago!'

In matters political Islam is a system of despotism at home and aggression abroad. The Prophet commanded absolute submission to the imâm. In no case was the sword to be raised against him. The rights of non-Moslem subjects are of the vaguest and most limited kind, and a religious war is a sacred duty whenever there is a chance of success against the "Infidel". Medieval and modern Mohammedan, especially Turkish, persecutions of both Jews and Christians are perhaps the best illustration of this fanatical religious and political spirit.
