Regardless of the day you go (responding to those who question the day) it depends on the denomination, and whether you are going to a religious service/ritual or just a meeting, etc.
As a married woman, I'd use this as a rule of thumb:
If it is a Reform synogogue, covering your head is most likely not necessary regardless of the event.
If it is a Conservative Synogogue then it is likely that for a religious service or ritual (e.g. brit, wedding, etc) it would be appropriate to cover your head; I would expect if its necessary they will provide something that you can use.
If it is Orthodox, you would absolutely need to cover your head regardless.
I hope that helps!

It depends. If the synagogue is Reform or Conservative, then no.
If it's Orthodox, you can consider covering your head, but it's not really necessary. However, to be respectful, dress modestly...defined as sleeves past the elbow, neckline above the collar bone and skirt below the knee. Pants for women are frowned upon, but if you don't have a skirt or a dress, loose pants are ok.
BTW: the dress code above is a good guide for any synagogue, or church for that matter.

if it has services on days other than Saturday and Friday, it might be an orthodox synagogue. In that case, just dress conservatively, making sure that you have a long skirt with long sleeves and high enough neckline. I think that since you are not Jewish, you do not need to cover your head. If your husband is going with you, he will want to get a yarmulke for himself at the door.

You're going to a synagogue on a Sunday? Amazing. There's probably no need to cover your head, unless they're Orthodox. Do ask first, but usually, women aren't generally required to wear head coverings, especially in Reform Judaism. A man should wear a kippah (yarmulke, skullcap). Dress conservatively.

You do mean Saturday, right? Or Friday night?
If you're going on Sunday... um... you might want to find another Synagogue.

Synagogue on Sunday? The Jewish Sabbath is on Saturday.
What will be going on there...and will you be attending with someone or another couple? If so, ask.

Yalmulka is for men. Jewish women don't cover the head at tabernacle. Though, some do wear pretty hats.
