my point is that most of those with accents dont speak english as their first language and can usually speak more than one other language other than english.
a compex language at that!
one has to be smart to do that!

most americans speak english only and its not the correct english taught and spoken in the u.k., but some kind of offshoot of the language.
i mean no offense its just puzzling

Acts 15:28, 29: “The holy spirit and we ourselves [the governing body of the Christian congregation] have favored adding no further burden to you, except these necessary things, to keep abstaining from things sacrificed to idols and from blood and from things strangled [or, killed without draining their blood] and from fornication. If you carefully keep yourselves from these things, you will prosper. Good health to you!” (There the eating of blood is equated with idolatry and fornication, things that we should not want to engage in....since this is as serious as fornication.

I was just curious by the fact that the Hongkies like to be called by their English names. It definitely makes it easier for everyone, especially the English-speaking ones, to remember their names. But I feel this is just so Un-Chinese or whatever you might call it. I think they should just stick with whatever names given by their parents. Also, there's a growing trend of Hongkies who give themselves some silly names that do not even bear any meanings, ie: Pepsi,Fish. Please help me to understand the underlying factors behind what could be known as a voluntary "self-westernisation" of the Chinese that some Hongkies might not even realise the consequences of having done so. More pathetic, the Western-born Chinese have always been the ones that are heavily sought after in their entertainment industry. Arent the Hongkies should be proud of who they are? It doesnt change the fact that they are Chinese even if they deliberately pick up an English name.

God created the Earth 6,000 years ago. About 4,400 years ago, Noah's Flood destroyed all life except that on the ark. Prior to the Flood, the world had a much milder climate. Up in the Antartic, scientist have found Wooley Mastedons that have been frozen in the ice. These animals are fully intact, with fur, and they're standing upright. They were killed so fast, that some are found to still have food in their mouth that they were eating. What confuses scientist, that up in the Antartic, what was found in their mouths was tropical plants.

Can anyone explain two things for me? 1) How was there tropical plants in the Antartic? 2) How were these animals killed so quickly unless it was a catostrophic disaster, like the Flood?

As I go through life I try to study and learn all that I can. I have studied many religions, and find that each one has good principles. Looking at these religions has also helped me to understand some of the reasons people do the things they do. Yet as I try to talk to people about my beliefs, the only thing they can do is say well you are obviously wrong and my way is the only way it can be. Well what if you are wrong? What if the truth is simply something you have never been exposed to? Most people weren't born into there faith, we all searched to get the beliefs we have. So why is it that once we find something that we see a little truth in, we close our minds to the possibility that anything else could be even closer to what we are looking for?

As a religious person and a Churchgoer, aren't you taught tolerance. Yet when there is a person on the pulpit who is saying things and doing something else in his life, people are shown to walk out in disgust. I wondered if walking away is the way to respond to situations. Mustn't you face up to the issue as a collective conscience. I mean that person's religion is not in place, but what is wrong with your own. I am not attacking religious sentiments of anyone.
Like once a person asked me for a donation towards the construction of a temple. I said I did not believe in such a thing and would not contribute for a temple. Anyway, after it was built that person invited others from the inaugeration and pointedly left me out. I thought leave me, but doesn't your religion teach charity? I would not have gone either way, not being overly religious.
