As a religious person and a Churchgoer, aren't you taught tolerance. Yet when there is a person on the pulpit who is saying things and doing something else in his life, people are shown to walk out in disgust. I wondered if walking away is the way to respond to situations. Mustn't you face up to the issue as a collective conscience. I mean that person's religion is not in place, but what is wrong with your own. I am not attacking religious sentiments of anyone.
Like once a person asked me for a donation towards the construction of a temple. I said I did not believe in such a thing and would not contribute for a temple. Anyway, after it was built that person invited others from the inaugeration and pointedly left me out. I thought leave me, but doesn't your religion teach charity? I would not have gone either way, not being overly religious.

Peronally, if someone in a church or in the movies starts talking of things that I know are completely against my grain and religious heart I will and do walk out. If you have the truth and an accurate knowledge of GOd and his expectations, you follow him even if that's out of the middle of someone speaking.

Yes, tolerance is a commodity but I agree with you chosing not to go either way.
People need to know what grounds to stick to, find yours and stick.

It would depend on the reason I am walking out. If my church were to open the pulpit to a heretic, then I might walk out. People have a misunderstanding of the word "tolerance." It does not mean "to agree with." You can only tolerate something you disapprove of.

what does this have to do with the movies?

if they left you out then WHY are you upset. You said you would not have gone either way.
That must have been the person's way of standing up for thier own religioin, instead of going after a person who makes it clear they dont support you, they go to a person who does.

sometimes the best response to peoplewho say offensive things in the church pulpet is to turn your back on them. I've told a pentecostal minister to shut up and walked out. He got the message

Don't look to people for how to live. We have one Role Model. Follow Him. People will ALWAYS be a dissapointment.
