no! definitely not overdone. the idea here is to educate the public, and there needs to be a lot of effort going into that. as you can see by some of your answers, some people still don't even get this information. it's absolutely necessary to talk about it and, as i said, educate people. for all the work put into it, there's still more that can be done, because frankly, all i saw was stuff on tv. and that's not nearly enough.

I dont think so. In fact, this has to be the way. Only with proper education to the public on how dire the AIDS issue has become that we would be able to, at least, slow down AIDS epidemic. I just watched a special coverage on AIDS by Aljazeera. It really took me and had me thinking for awhile of how little or no future that holds for HIV-infected patients in the developing economies. We should respect any human beings in this world. There isnt any right for us to deny their existence. Cheers to the media.

I'm not sure of course where you live or what you're basing this on but I don't think that enough attention was paid to this. People still need to know that this is not a "dirty " disease and that you need to be cognizant of the ways that you can become infected and to be kind to anyone who has been diagnosed. One could say that the "Walk for life" (PINK RIBBON, BREAST CANCER) campaign was "Overdone" It was everywhere (rightly so) but don't negate any work that's done in the name of trying to find a cure for AIDS.

30 Million dead so far, 5 million new cases each year, 95% of new cases in the developing world. And people still make an issue about educating about condoms?? Like the Catholic church...and other various religious extreamists.

Absolutely not, I think for the first time they actually succeeded in making it more public, and it should be that way on a regular basis. Awareness is vital to preventing future transmisions, for gaining more funding for research ... etc.
