Check the phone book for battered women's shelters; these women usually leave home with their kids, and the kids have no toys or clothes, because they can't go back to get them.

Any number of organizations: Salvation Army, Alpha Project, The Storefront (homeless teens in San Diego), The Polinksy Center for Children, St. Vincent de Paul, or Father Joe's Villages are all good places to start.

You can check out all these charities at www.give.org

What a wonderful thing to do, you must be a very caring genuine person. I agree about the homeless shelters or the places where abused wives take their children.

But why not sponsor a woman and her children from a shelter over the christmas period - someone who has recently had to leave her home and everything she holds dear. She andher children may remember you forever for your kindness.

Catholic charities (although I'm not Catholic). You could also go to your local mall which usually has a "giving tree" where they place requests on it from children who want stuff for Christmas. I try to do this every year.
I either pick out a large gift (like a bike), or a few small ones.
They tell you what day the kids are coming back to the mall to claim their gifts and you can be there to see the looks on their faces. It's really neat !

Contact a local church close to your home. Who ever you sponsor will be blessed and you will definitely be blessed.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Keep looking UP!
