I have a good friend from the states. and I am from Japan. Sometimes I find it difficult to understand him in terms of an expression, what exactly does this mean ' I hope to see you soon' he always says on the text message, but he never invites me for a drink. Japanese way to invite is alwasy ' shall we go for a drink' like that, and we don't usually say ' I hope to see you soon'. what does this imply? Does he want me to invite him? or He is trying to find some time to hang out? Hope you understand what I mean.

I'm helping my company devise a Latin motto for a new nonprofit American Sign Language-based organization, and need quick help: rendering "God's gift we protect," "God's gift we defend," or "God's gift we preserve" into Latin. It's not a situation in which a Latin dictionary will suffice. If you know of one Latin word that would connote protection, defense, and preservation, that'd be great! (My Latin's rusty, alas.)

Yesterday I asked what "sins" Jesus supposedly died for. I was given many answers. Some said it was the 7 deadly sins: lust, avarice, pride, wrath, sloth, gluttony and envy. Others said he died for The Ten Commandments. Yet others said that he died for murder (so that others would not do so.) Then there were those who said smoking and drinking were sins.

What is "sin" to a Christian? This time, can you all agree? If not, is the "sin" theory of Jesus's death just conjecture?

The witchcraft and wickedness that the Bilbe reffers to means anyone that worships the devil or who is a sevant to the devil and his evil work! No more or less! Most of you are saying I worship the devil only b/c of my opinion, when in fact you are wrong! God is my savior & if God is my savior & I like herbs & candles & say a few fancy words & prayers now & then this must mean I am Pagan! Which in fact witches were considered Pagan b/c they didn't know how else 2 label somehting they did not understand & they mixed the 2, (oh how the light has turned on)! It is said that Jesus himself were pagan! He healed & preformed wonders that no one else could he used his powers 4 good, so what really are most of u saying? Christmas & Halloween R Pagan holidays, the spring & winter solice, "everyone" bases their clocks 2 these times but some christains follow even if they don't agree b/c that is just what everyone else does. But if u followed Christains origial rules u should not believe in these.

I just asked a question(http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ApTb1NNyU5XR.4hk3hmibExIzKIX?qid=20061115073012AAVawZt) and received:

"I guess what Christians ,and myself included can't understand is.. Marriage is a ceremony that is done in the presence and blessed by God. So how can you do something like that if you dont' believe in the one who is bringing you both together?"

First of all, we don't believe in him, so isn't that an irrelevant thought?

Also, Dictionary.com's definition only includes ONE definition out of TEN that includes the words religious ceremony...and that was stated like this:
1. the social institution under which a man and woman establish their decision to live as husband and wife by legal commitments, religious ceremonies, etc.

Do you consider "marriage" to be only a religious/Christian thing? Does a civil ceremony "not count", even with a marriage license?

2000 years ago, Jerusalem was most definitely not the most important city on Earth. One could argue for any empire capitals in China, Persia, Rome, India and would probably be right. So it seems logical that a god would have chosen the very center of an empire to manifest its son. A present day's equivalent of ancient Jerusalem would be like Asuncion in Paraguay, quite insignificant in political stakes. Does that not smell fishy to you? Strategically, if you want to make a change and you're a god, you don't need to go low profile, you strike at the head where it hurts. Having manifested itself in Israel, does that mean that jews are more important to god than any other group on the planet? There's no peace between the people that live there but it's a fight that is not as important as a superpower conflict for example. So where is the catch?
