It seems pretty obvious to me yet they will continue to talk to me or hand me paper work while I am talking. No, its not personal phone calls -it calls from a customer. This is very aggravating!

A girl in my office created little cards that read "On the Phone", "Lunch", "Meeting" etc. and put it in her cubicle doorway. That works. My manager used to close her door.

Maybe if you tell her "I know you can carry on two conversations at a time, but I perfer to consintrate on one, could you please come back when you see me on the phone, I can't hanlde the distruption". This should keep her from doing it again, but if she continues I would tell my manager or really tell her "Do not intrupt me while I'm on the phone with a customer!". We should try not to get upset with someone until we tell them what they did wrong and give them the oppertunity to correct themselves.

I'm a multi-tasking type of person and people talk to me while I'm on the phone all of the time. It dosn't bother me, but sometimes the coversation is too deep and I just put a finger (to signify 1 minute). If a person does not acknoledge me while they are on the phone, I won't talk, I'll come back latter.

I hate it when that happens to me at work.
I usually just kick or nudge the person trying to talk to me away.
Then they get the idea.
No really, that's what I do. But perhaps that won't work for you - all the people I work with are awesome and we have a ball all day long. We also work in an auto parts store.
So I get guys comin in the store all day long saying... who's the pretty lady? hehe

They are stupid and rude. Wait outside their cube for them to be on the phone then do the same to them. See if they take the hint.

they know you are on the phone but they don't care.
their needs are more important to them. try to turn your
back and be unavailable. don't give them eye contact.
be as foreboding as possible if you want to be left alone.
they are just more motivated by their own needs and don't want to wait and come back. they want their needs met NOW.
consider putting up a sign...come back later i'm on the phone.

people don't care what others are doing, or if they're available or not. they just want to get their thing done and don't give a damn about anything else. yeah!
