Even to the most innofensive questions I have seen people shout RACISM at..

Are the accusers trying to silence alternative opinions? or do they believe they are acting for the greater benefit of mankind??

The problem lies in the victim attitude that ALL minorities have succumbed to. They have put up with many forms of discrimination in the past, but as that is now disappearing they are grasping at straws to still remain the victim and receive their entitlements. They don't want equal rights, they want things handed to them. It's the liberal way. Recently a black man at my husband's company filed a lawsuit saying he was being made to do work that white workers don't do. The lawsuit was dismissed and he was discharged when it was proven that the white workers already knew the work he was doing and that it was part of his training. You lose respect for a cause when it is being abused and unfortunately that is what is happening now. Equal rights have turned into bullying and blackmail.

If the question or statement truly was NOT a racist intent, I would have to say that its a little of both. We have the right of speech. But that has been taken away to a degree because of 'unless' it is about a skin color, sex preference, religion or other. I am NOT a racist person by any means. I have no problems with other races. I have the same problem with people in general, there dirty mouths, lack of respect for others, and themselves. I can't stand someone that thinks in their head that they are better then everyone else around them. THAT IS WRONG!!!!!! A homeless person out in the streets can and in ALOT of cases do, have more heart then those that do have material things and money in their life. I believe in the freedom of speech. I do not agree in the whole racist thing. I have heard other nationality of people talk about how much they hate being treated differently or looked at funny or had a comment directed to them that was inappropriate, but yet, they will turn around an hour later or the next day and they will do the exact same to another race. This world has gone MAD, and before long, laws won't matter anymore, because the people are getting tired of being controlled and they will do what they want. That's when we become a 'police state' more then what we already are. Racism is just a form or 'action' to open the door to worse things to come. We haven't seen anything yet. Blessed be..........

As Mrs Empo said, Political Correctness ...

Political Correctness is an ***,
Those in power have become so crass,
To think the public has no brain,
Is pertinently insane.

As if the powerful ones don’t have enough to do.
As if the powerful ones don’t have a clue.
Do they think the masses immature and dense?
Do they think at all or just perch upon the fence?

Did we not vote them in to help improve our world?
Our tax and national insurance funds since now curled,
Their pockets lined by the nearest sender.
Philistines of their own agenda.

“We” go to war, although we don’t know why,
“We” are the country and yet sentenced to die.
Yet we are told we cannot consume curved fruit,
To be told this and that even if it never suits.

Wake up and get a grip,
Get of the high horse and lose your lip.
Drop the Soap-box and changing laws.
Concentrate on the British cause.

An already overcrowded land,
You can see that surely at first hand.
We care not for the ways of European application,
We are here, already our own nation.

Make life fair for those that pay their way.
Do not give in to those that don’t have a way.
Protect those that live in structure,
Not those sponging off the people’s hard earned lucre.

To pander to the needs of the lowest denominator,
Only serves to render the country full of paper.
Invigorate and give a path,
Otherwise … in time feel the countries wrath.

I'm white by my skin and by my avatar!, but I agree with you. Most people say one thing and do another. I don't care if you are sky blue, black or pink, your opinions matter as a person. If you don't agree with my opinions, then that doesn't make them less valid than mine!
Too many people, including some who have answered you, have their own agenda.
Everyone has the right by birth to be heard on a level playing-field.

You need to cite a specific example. What you think isn't racist may be very racist to other people.

I agree that some people need to relax and not be so quick to take offense. But, I think it is wrong to make a blanket statement that people are 'so quick' to see racism. I have seen some very racist content on Yahoo Answers.

Just because a person is anti-racist doesn't necessarily imbue them with intelligence. A lot of people are not capable of critical thinking and will default to a moral "party line" if race is mentioned without thinking about it.

But temper that with the possibility that you're saying something racist ;)

I think it is easier for most people to just play the race card instead of trying to think further into something.

AND BEFORE you just go auto-thumbs down me PLEASE at least READ the rest of th post...

That is not to say that there aren't A LOT of racist comments and questions here, and everywhere, because there absolutely are... HOWEVER, not everything is about race and I think people have just gotten so comfortable with the PC BS that they have forgotten how to think for themselves....

I know a bunch of people are going to be all "OH YOU ARE JUST A RACIST" and try to give me a thumbs down or whatever, but that just proves my point...

I am not racist, I am a lot of things, racist isn't one of them. I really think it is just A LOT easier for people to scream racism and run off than to actually think about SOME of the things people are talking about...

That said, there is a VERY fine line between these things and it can be certainly difficult for some people to see and further to understand the subtle differences between an honest inquiry or expression of an idea and racism, or whatever other 'ism you might be referring to at any given time.

Truly, most of us are not taught to critically think and this is the one of the problems. We just REACT, automatically, instead of thinking and reasoning and perhpas trying to actually SEE someone else's side of things.

We might not agree with everyone's opinions, but we should let everyone make their views known.

Various extremist groups have attempted to get their message across by feeding questions and statements into web forums. BNP and Al Qaeda are probably the worst offenders. When we get a load of questions, all using much the same language, we know where they've come from, and we shout RACIST at both of you.

People both black and white find racism in anything.....this is how it is going to be for some time......I have answered tons of race related questions here....some are good questions that can be debated........and then there are some that are completely racist.....To me it depends on the wording of the question....

But you also come off a little defensive in your questions as well, maybe you ought to keep that in mind.

We need to allow free speech, no matter what the speaker says, although there is a line that you do not cross, and certain words that you must not use. Be nice to each other, I don't care what colour a persons skin is, it does not affect the way I look at them or treat them. It is what's inside that is important. I am white( if that matters to anyone)
