Lets face it, there are millions of highly educated, intelligent Christians out there. So my question is, what exactly is taking place in otherwise logical, reasonable peoples heads to make them abandon rational thought, and participate in an outrageous delusion?

If I say Jesus was resurrected and floated up into heaven, a Christian agrees, but if I say a reindeer floats, I'm nuts.

If I say Jesus walked on water, that is reasonable, but if Chris Angel does it, it's a magic trick.

If you ask a Christian if prayers make a difference, they'll say, "certainly", but you don't see them speed through intersections, "praying" the lights will turn green.

If Christian gets sick, they'll take antibiotics that were created in a lab via science based on evolution, but if you show them the skull of an Australopithecus, they'll deny that's evidence of evolution.

Obviously they are capable of distinguishing reality from fantasy, WHEN THEY CHOOSE TO. What is this magical spell they're under?!?

I find it sad that when im in this section I see so many non-believers hanging out bashing Christians. If you dont believe the word of God then why even take the time to answer questions? I dunno I just dont understand why some ppl who hate christianity will spend hours online on Christian related questions, forums, groups, chat rooms etc...Makes me think that deep down they must think theres a possibility that it is the truth. I mean why else would they take the time?

How do you feel about gay Marriage? Should gay marriage be recognized in the United States? Should gay couples be allowed to adopt, married or not? Why or why not?

This is for a school project. I asked these questions separately a month or so ago, but apparently I didn't ask in the manner that my instructor wanted me to, so here it goes again.

Thanks.

I've seen so many questions or answers on here so far that automatically label certain people as terrorists based upon their ethnic origin or religious background. So, in your opinion, what is a terrorist? Is a terrorist to you simply anyone who wears a turbin? Or maybe its the person next to you on the subway in a business suit reading the morning paper? Have you ever asked the IRA what a terrorist is? Have you pondered asking a Muslim what their idea of a terrorist is? Feel free to answer however you wish.

Just look up and ask for Jesus Christ, the matchless Lamb, the Prince of Peace... and you will find the answer."?

My dad was telling me that he had a dream that he was wearing this white robe and he was looked spread out like jesus was on the cross. Then my mom tells me while going to pick up my dad from his sleep apnea test, that she had a dream that something was wrong with my dad and that we were talking to my grandmother and grandfather on my dad side. The same day my mom told me to her dream and about a month after my dad's dream his has a heart-attack and emergency 5-way bypass surgery.

During surgery he is wearing nothing but a white sheet and on the table they have his arm spread out. Ain't that a weird coincidence or what?

After alot of years alone God brought a guy into my life that for me would finally be "the one". I really resisted but this guy just kept on barging into my life and then sharing alot of his life with me. He gave me some of the best days of my life and I am grateful for having those memories. In spite of some things looking to me like maybe he feels the same way about me he says he just wants to be friends. I want to accept that and move on and believe this is all for the best. So does anyone out there have a similar story where it really was for the best and things worked out better because something they'd hoped for didn't work out?? I just want a little hope.

The death penalty is stupid and doesn't really punish the pertrator. Wouldn't life sentence be a better option? Life would take away their freedom, where as death gives them freedom.

I have been having problems with the mormons yet again.

On Saturday my wife and I were making love when I though I heard the door go. We were expecting a couple we know to arrive. So I went to the door without changing. I had on some rubber bondage gear and rubber restraints on my arms which were very tight (I am not into this stuff, I just do it for the wife).

I was greated by two mormon missionaries, aged about 20, in suits with bibles in hand.

Now My wife and I are tolerant. But as born again christians, my wife and I don´t want to discuss our faith with those from the Church of the Latter Day Saints. We say live and let live, it´s just that it is not our thing.

Those guys just wouldn´t leave. They asked to come in. The one on the left looked at me funny. In the end I had to shut the door on them. I didn´t want to but after fifteen minutes, I was losing the circulation in my arms and could not feel my hands.

Is it me, or are these mormon missionaries too pushy?

In the Spanish language, when do I know to use "su" or "sus"? If the sentence reads: "The family goes to a restaurant that serves Mexican food. Their favorite restaurant is The Espiga de Oro," then I would say, "La familia va a un restaurante que sirve la comida mexicana. (Su or Sus?) restaurante favorito es La Espiga de Oro."

The Germans that enslaved Jews have created monetary funds for Jewish culture and heritage groups. Why can't the US own up to the 300 years of repression they inflicted and afford some quality schooling for black children? This is not a mere handout but an apology. I cant think why anyone would be against it.

I'm looking for some books to help a person who's seriously questioning faith, especially Christianity. I "was" a Christian but had some awful things going on, part of which were my fault, part of which weren't. I begged God for such a long time to let me back in, let me feel close to him, but it felt like he'd disappeared. I didn't have faith all my life; I came late to it. I'm having a hard time finding good books for this though. Please help?

Specifically animal products. When an animal is kosher slaughtered, it is done in just about the most barbaric way possible. Basically the animal has their throat cut and they bleed to death, Al-Queda style. Most people think animal cruelty is wrong right? Then why is it ok if it's done in the name of religion???

If rape or child abuse is done in the name of religion, is that ok too? If this was a Catholic tradition and not a jewish one, would it be acceptable?

Serious discussion please.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT DEATH

Death is certain but the Bible speaks about untimely death! Make a personal reflection about this. Very interesting, read until the end.
It is written in the Bible (Galatians 6:7): "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap."

Here are some men and women who mocked God:

1. JOHN LENNON: Some years before, during his interview with an American Magazine, he said: "Christianity will end, it will disappear. I do not have to argue about that. I am certain. Jesus was ok, but his subjects were too simple, today we are more famous than Him" (1966). Lennon, after saying that the Beatles were more famous than Jesus Christ, was shot six times.
2. TANCREDO NEVES (President of Brazil): During the Presidential campaign, he said if he got 500,000 votes from his party, not even God would remove him from Presidency. Sure he got the votes, but he got sick a day before being made President, then he died.
3. CAZUZA (Bi-sexual Brazilian composer, singer and poet): During a show in Canecïo ( Rio de Janeiro ), whilst smoking his cigarette, he puffed out some smoke into the air and said: "God, that's for you." He died at the age of 32 of AIDS in a horrible manner.
4. THE MAN WHO BUILT THE TITANIC: After the construction of the Titanic, a reporter asked him how safe the Titanic would be. With an ironic tone he said: "Not even God can sink it" The result: I think you all know what happened to the Titanic.
5. MARILYN MONROE: She was visited by Billy Graham during a presentation of a show. He said the Spirit of God had sent him to preach to her. After hearing what the Preacher had to say, she said: "I don't need your Jesus". A week later, she was found dead in her apartment.
6. BON SCOTT: The ex-vocalist of the AC/DC. On one of his 1979 songs he sang: "Don't stop me, I'm going down all the way, down the highway to hell". On the 19th of February 1980, Bon Scott was found dead, he had been choked by his own vomit.
7. CAMPINAS/SP IN 2005: In Campinas, Brazil a group of friends, drunk, went to pick up a friend. The mother accompanied her to the car and was so worried about the drunkenness of her friends and she said to the daughter - holding her hand, who was already seated in the car: "MY DAUGHTER, GO WITH GOD AND MAY HE PROTECT YOU."
She responded: "ONLY IF HE (GOD) TRAVELS IN THE TRUNK, CAUSE INSIDE HERE IT'S ALREADY FULL". Hours later, news came by that they had been involved in a fatal accident, everyone had died, the car could not be recognized what type of car it had been, but surprisingly, the trunk was intact. The police said there was no way the trunk could have remained intact. To their surprise, inside the trunk was a crate of eggs, none were broken.
8. Christine Hewitt: A Jamaican Journalist and entertainer, said the Bible (Word of God) was the worst book ever written, in June 2006 she was found burnt beyond recognition in her motor vehicle.

Many more important people have forgotten that there is no other name that was given so much authority as the name of Jesus. Many have died, but only Jesus died and rose again, and he is still alive.

JESUS!!!
P.S: If it was a joke, you would have sent it to everyone. So are you going to have courage to send this? I have done my part, Jesus said "If you are embarrassed about me, I will also be embarrassed about you before my father."

"What benefit does it have, if a man gains the whole world but loses his soul? What can man give in exchange of his soul?" (Matthew 16:26).

AMEN

What does the Bible say about homosexuality?

There are those who like to say that the Bible does not condemn homosexuality. Various verses are cited (out of context) and the verses that people use to show that homosexuality is wrong are explained away. The world wants to change God's words and meanings into something more suitable to its sinful desires. Nevertheless, the truth stands: The Bible condemns homosexuality as a sin. Let's look at what it says.

Lev. 18:22, "You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination."

Lev. 20:13, "If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltness is upon them"

1 Cor. 6:9-10, "Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God."

Rom. 1:26-28, "For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, 27and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. 28And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper."

Homosexuality is clearly condemned by the Bible. It goes against the created order of God. He created Adam and then made a woman. This is what God has ordained and it is what is right. Unlike other sins, homosexuality has a severe judgment administered by God Himself. This judgment is simple: They are given over to their passions. That means that their hearts are allowed to be hardened by their sins (Romans 1:18ff). As a result, they can no longer see the error of what they are doing. Without an awareness of their sinfulness, there will be no repentance and trusting in Jesus. Without Jesus, they will have no forgiveness. Without forgiveness, there is no salvation.

What should be the Christian's Response to the Homosexual?

Just because someone is a homosexual does not mean that we cannot love him (or her) or pray for him (her). Homosexuality is a sin and like any other sin, it needs to be dealt with in the only way possible. It needs to be laid at the cross, repented of, and never done again.
As a Christian, you should pray for the salvation of the homosexual the same you would any other person in sin. The homosexual is still made in the image of God -- even though he is in grave sin. Therefore, you should show him same dignity as anyone else you come in contact with. However, this does not mean that you are to approve of their sin. Don't compromise your witness for a socially acceptable opinion that is void of godliness.
