What does the Bible say about homosexuality?

There are those who like to say that the Bible does not condemn homosexuality. Various verses are cited (out of context) and the verses that people use to show that homosexuality is wrong are explained away. The world wants to change God's words and meanings into something more suitable to its sinful desires. Nevertheless, the truth stands: The Bible condemns homosexuality as a sin. Let's look at what it says.

Lev. 18:22, "You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination."

Lev. 20:13, "If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltness is upon them"

1 Cor. 6:9-10, "Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God."

Rom. 1:26-28, "For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, 27and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. 28And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper."

Homosexuality is clearly condemned by the Bible. It goes against the created order of God. He created Adam and then made a woman. This is what God has ordained and it is what is right. Unlike other sins, homosexuality has a severe judgment administered by God Himself. This judgment is simple: They are given over to their passions. That means that their hearts are allowed to be hardened by their sins (Romans 1:18ff). As a result, they can no longer see the error of what they are doing. Without an awareness of their sinfulness, there will be no repentance and trusting in Jesus. Without Jesus, they will have no forgiveness. Without forgiveness, there is no salvation.

What should be the Christian's Response to the Homosexual?

Just because someone is a homosexual does not mean that we cannot love him (or her) or pray for him (her). Homosexuality is a sin and like any other sin, it needs to be dealt with in the only way possible. It needs to be laid at the cross, repented of, and never done again.
As a Christian, you should pray for the salvation of the homosexual the same you would any other person in sin. The homosexual is still made in the image of God -- even though he is in grave sin. Therefore, you should show him same dignity as anyone else you come in contact with. However, this does not mean that you are to approve of their sin. Don't compromise your witness for a socially acceptable opinion that is void of godliness.

If I give you that the bible does seem to indicate that homosexuality is NOT a preferred activity for men (although women are never mentioned in this context)...

Can you give me the fact it is not one of the 10 commandments and thus not one of the mortal sins and thus is a venial (lesser) sin.

AND the fact that we accept and seemingly encourage intentional violation of the mortal sins and the 10 Commandments.

In the sake of time, I will just point out two...

5th Commandment: Thou Shalt Not Kill.
- WE still sentence criminals to death & send soldiers to kill innocents

10th Commandment: Thou Shalt not Covet thy Neighbor's Property.
- Do we not encourage avarice and envy through fashion, fads, marketing, and waste?

The issue is, Humans are flawed, we kill, steal, have greed, sloth, and much, much more.

As long as you hold 100% true to your beliefs, and REFUSE to support leaders who send troops to kill, encourage greed, do not believe in charity, encourage us to shop to fight terrorists, et al, then I will back you 100% in any argument you make supporting the teachings of the bible.

I have complete respect for an enlightened person willing to not be selective in THEIR views as well and not spout a "socially acceptable opinion that is void of godliness"

Christians have continually been antagonistic or ridiculed in the event that they stand for Christ instead than the church. however we're reminded of the sheep and goats tale wherein it isnt a hand exhibit on the reasonable which particularly concerns. In a few approaches the early Christians suffered tremendously , in comparison to others having fun with the alleviation zone of present day day suburbia. From what I listen in these days it's definitely actual that individuals in probably the most elaborate international locations have the finest conversion fee even as the softest ones grow to be indistinguishable from the herd that stands for not anything besides. We also are reminded of deceivers each within the first centrury and the final, dont fail to remember. So Its elaborate to understand in which you get your understanding or if its made up from the university rag journal. It additionally doesnt subject in which approximately within the Bible we select costs so long as the complete is taken in context. It relies extra on how we use it on ourselves , bearing in brain we're in charge separately to not you or the grasp brain quizmaster on the nook pub. Maybe anyone honestly takes the questioner severely wherein case its satisfactory to fail to remember approximately the repute scores within the End Times. More principal that we're all receptive to the mission and open to God as occasions get a great deal rougher on both sides.

Why are you so worried about the little rules of the Bible? When in doubt, when an issue is under debate, go back to the Ten Commandments and the Golden Rule, the central tenets of the entire religion. Above anything, these rules tell you to love God and be groovy to other people. If all Christians spent more time concentrating on that and less time worrying about who's getting condemned for what, we'd all be better off.

peace out, dude

God never has and he never will condone homosexuality, gays and lesbians want to change the laws of God for their benefit not mankind's, those church leaders that support Homosexuality will receive the same punishment that God will set upon them for breaking his law. Some church leaders are blessing Homosexuality in the name of God by marrying them, religious leaders need to pray to God for forgiveness and condemn Homosexuality and stand firm on Gods Law, he has made it very clear in his words condemning Homosexuality. In my opinion they are the most detestable people on earth a disgrace to mankind.

If Christians want to bar homosexuals from having rights, I think we should take away the same rights from the Christians. That would be fair.

They try to justify their actions as being okay. Some people they are above it all like the priests sleeping with the choir boys and Haggart and his paid boyfriend.

But lately it's changing people are starting to attack the Bible itself. False religion is on its way out and the one true religion will be attacked too.

While I agree with you, don't be surprised if someone (not I) complains to yahoo about your question - it won't be because of your beliefs, but because you use the question space as an opportunity to make a lengthy speech. There really isn't a question there.

Just because there is written word and a group of followers to believe this word doesn't mean this word is truth.

Thank you. I love this. Yes it is sin - just like any other sin we commit. We are to love the sinner - but hate the sin. Thanks for this timely message. Blessings to you dear one - keeping preaching the Word - in and out of season.
