Does anybody else have a problem with kosher foods?

Question

Specifically animal products. When an animal is kosher slaughtered, it is done in just about the most barbaric way possible. Basically the animal has their throat cut and they bleed to death, Al-Queda style. Most people think animal cruelty is wrong right? Then why is it ok if it's done in the name of religion???

If rape or child abuse is done in the name of religion, is that ok too? If this was a Catholic tradition and not a jewish one, would it be acceptable?

Serious discussion please.

one of the main reasons kosher slaughter is necessary is because it is humane. the slaughterer has to immediately cut the artery so that the animal dies instantly, and the knife has to be very sharp and not dulled in order to minimize pain and complications as well. there have been lots of controversies about kosher slaughtering, buts its mainly due to the companies not following the laws properly and doing it badly, therefore causing the animal unnecessary pain. this is not a problem with the laws of kashrut, but with the incompetence of the people who have been marketing "kosher" foods.

Cutting the throat is barbaric to look at in our cushy society. However, I am told that cutting the artery and letting the animal bleed to death is relatively painless. The animal just gets weaker and weaker. Also, it would be pretty quick. It's not like cutting your wrists.
I don't see what difference it would make if it were a catholic tradition. Neither do I see the point of bringing rape and child abuse into the equation. Like Missy, I miss the point.

We have two choices: 1) Take a very sharp knife, and in one motion sever the 2 main pipes, with almost instant death.
2) Hit the animal over the head so it's unconsience and shoot it in the head a couple of times.
Also,animal 'cruelty' is different than human cruelty.

Jewish slaughter methods are prescribed to be done the most humane way possible - it must be a precise cut, using a knife free of damage. Uh, rape and child abuse isn't done in the name of religion, much less Judaism. It would be equally as disgusting if it was practiced in Catholicism.

I was watchin' "Hogan Knows Best" the other day and a Rabbi said that the animals are killed without the animal having pain or the least pain as possible. The Hogan's were puttin' on a block party in their new Miami neighborhood. Either your wrong or that Jewish Rabbi is wrong. I choose the Rabbi. Sorry, don't know what to tell you....

The cow is hoisted off the ground by one of it's hind legs and then it's throat is slit to allow the blood to slowly drain out while a rabbi mumbles some incantations. Ain't religious food superstitions great?

ok no its no longer okay to consume warm canines or chilly cuts!
