I'm looking for some books to help a person who's seriously questioning faith, especially Christianity. I "was" a Christian but had some awful things going on, part of which were my fault, part of which weren't. I begged God for such a long time to let me back in, let me feel close to him, but it felt like he'd disappeared. I didn't have faith all my life; I came late to it. I'm having a hard time finding good books for this though. Please help?

I'm trying to understand how you could be at one time "born again" and then "unborn". Please explain. Either you are a backslidden Christian or you never believed to begin with. If it's the first scenario, we don't have to beg God...He takes us back willingly, He LONGS to have fellowship with us again, so I would reexamine my heart if I were you...something doesn't sound right....the only good book you need is the Bible!

Well, it depends what the person's problem is. If he is questioning the idea of faith from a philosophical standpoint, an excellent book is "Mere Christianity" by C.S. Lewis. If he is questioning it form an intellectual standpoint, then he should read "Evidence that Demands a Verdict" by Josh MaDowell. If I had known about you at the time (and if I had known about this book) I would have recommended you read:: "What's so Amazing About Grace" by Philip Yancy. In fact, I still recommend it to you. It's a real life-changer.

You can be a Christian, but with a somewhat different (and very much better) believe system. I HIGHLY recommend "Conversations with God" by Neale Donald Walsch. It is actually a series of 3 books, but the first one will do.
It will show you that God HAS NOT left you - you just think he did. God will never leave any soul on this earth. Blessings!

Sorry to hear that you are struggling. It is normal to feel like that sometimes, people in marriages go through the same thing. You need to spend time with God to feel close to Him. I'll pray for you. Read the book "Hinds Feet on High Places".

"The Purpose-Driven Life" by Rick Warren.
Great, clear, inspiring - builds faith in a very powerful way.

God doesn't pull away from us, we pull away from him, all we have to do is step back in and ask to be forgiven. Its that simple
