My husband was deployed to Afghanistan last January, so I'm going to be spending the holiday season by myself (my friends and family already have alternative plans). Any ideas how to do Thanksgiving for one?

I'm his girlfriend and honestly suck at figuring out what to get guys. He plays soccer, volleyball... Like the video game World of Warcraft. Um, not big on clothes, doesn't need a watch, has stuff for his car. He's not picky, but I'm just a loser and don't know. Plus, I don't want to get him a gift card, because it seems too impersonal. You all are the first to know in shitty life. So this is big to me.Yeah I'm a fag. I don't like at all being gay--I know I can't change it cuz I tried. I never 'socialize' with other gay people because I don't get along with them and they bore me. I am sexually attracted to men only. I don't hang out with women because they bore me and talk too much(no offence). My family is very anitgay(Right winged military family). My friends at work and outside are the same. On top of this, I haven't had sex because of me being a fag. I'm 23 as well. What would be the best thing for me to do.

It struck me suddenly. Despite all the rabid discussions going on here between conservatives and liberals, religious people and atheists, one constant remains...
All people from all sides will sometimes use pictures of cute, furry animals as their avatars.
So can't we agree on one thing?

I frequently wonder if the whole concept is based in any sort of reality. You know, the whole idea of selling off or giving away everything you own, and moving to some island and living the simple life...

I lived on the Big Island of Hawaii awhile ago, and it seemed to me that there was only three kinds of people there.

1. Locals who were so outrageously ignorant it was comical.
2. Tourists that left their brains in Japan/California.
3. Rich retirees who bought their way in (sometimes for millions of $$$), and hung around for a couple of years before realizing they had no friends and nothing to do, then leaving.

It seemed like 80% of people fell into one of these categories.

Granted, this WAS in Hawaii, maybe the Caribbean is different, I don't know. Is it? Anyone been there for a substantial length of time?

I used to think it WAS possible, but now as I get older I think the realities of life and $$$ and the like make it impossible.

I was referring to God. God is an imaginary friend, was created only because in a past people couldn't explain things like wind son earthquake and more. This has application even in our day as well for Jesus said to love your enemies and pray for then, not to go and kill them. God's word says obedience is better than sacrifice, so why do you not obey Him? I must confess, there was no way he could have put all of those animals on that one dinky craft--it was so sad, he was praying and crying and terrified that that horrible god person would smite him, I just couldn't bear it! So I rattled off a little incantation "Weeping man now dry your eyes animals shrink to a convenient size, wherever you roam far or near, here my call and all come here" and at once the ark was filled with cute little diminutive animals, and everything was fine--I never intended to cause such a great mystery that people would be pondering for centuries--I thought I was doing him a favor--wasn't that nice of me?
