Gosh...don't flatter yourself. We don't all, but I do! You guys seem so proper and classic and VERY friendly and easy going. You're not rude. And here everything is just drama, drama, drama...basically we just love your culture and style. And how is it that you and everyone else can use the word "English" and get away with it, but I get chewed out when I do.

Well, I don't know. I love the English. But that is mostly because I have always loved the English since I was little. The only time I have been patriotic for the US was around the time of 9/11/2001 and that's it.

Many Americans just are amazed by the accents. I have no idea why. Maybe it is because the English sound different than the Americans.

I think primarily because, as others have said, in effect (I summarize): English people are decent, dependable, and we do share common roots. I think it was Churchhill that said a common people divided by a common language: Between England and America there trully are only differences in the meaning of some words.
Said an Amercian theologian (again summarizing). The great freedoms both countries have in common are due directly to sound Anglican theology and ideals developed over many, many centuries.
Wit, sense of humour, common sense, decency, and sharing the highest ideals of Western civilization are probably at the heart of it as well.
Or said one comedian on BBC (paraphrase): the English and Americans are so close because learning French would take too much effort!
That, and I think on both sides of the pond, lots of us enjoy a good cuppa, good company, and appreciate common sense.

Because they're cute, polite, and have sexy accents. I don't know why, but an English accept will have an American girl head over heels. Not mention, it could be the whole "You always want what you can't have" thing. If we had a surplus of British in America, the love would probably decrease.

They did start the colonies. We did have that little revolution against them. We where on both sides during both world wars. We share a lot of the same holidays, and the English just seem to be more sophisticated.

I don't think that Americans like the English especially. We like their comedians/entertainers and excellent tv shows. Those aspects of British culture don't reflect the reality of English lives, and so we enjoy the buffoonery and the pretension that this offers.

Well, I'm not American but I, too, love the English.

Their accent sounds just great (could spend hours just listening *g*)

They're really gentleman
...at least on the surface (lol)

They seem to be so cultivated and posh (dont know why)

English guys are hot (again, dont know why, they are only hot here...anywhere else, they wouldn't be....)

Great sense of humour

And just (as said before) absolutely charming!

I'm not really all that fond of English customs or economy, but I absolutely melt when I hear that accent.
