You all are the first to know in shitty life. So this is big to me.Yeah I'm a fag. I don't like at all being gay--I know I can't change it cuz I tried. I never 'socialize' with other gay people because I don't get along with them and they bore me. I am sexually attracted to men only. I don't hang out with women because they bore me and talk too much(no offence). My family is very anitgay(Right winged military family). My friends at work and outside are the same. On top of this, I haven't had sex because of me being a fag. I'm 23 as well. What would be the best thing for me to do.

First things first, STOP HATING YOURSELF! Nothing you do is going to change who you are - accept it and move on. You need to be more positive in your life. God made you who you are and so you need to be yourself. Go see a shrink to help raise your self-esteem and to help remove the self-hating aspect of your life. Get out into the community and meet people, great friends are the best thing in the world. You might surprise yourself and find out that you really do like being a gay man.

Realise you have a life to lead, and a right to that life without artificial restrictions. Realise that you are not just your sexuality, that you are a person first who happens to prefer men when it comes to sex. Get curious about people in a far wider context, focus on others and get involved with the world far more. Get out more, travel and look for options as far as careers are concerned. Focus on life and stop the focussing on being gay. You will then get the chance to attract someone you can love.

I would wait until I was old enough to support myself before telling your family. If you honestly feel that they are so far-gone that they will not accept as gay, it may be best to wait.

Come out to them when you have the ability to support yourself and if they don't accept it, then move away. Start a new life and be true to yourself. You'll love life and never look back.

Just remember to always respect yourself and don't take s**t from anybody.

I think you need to find a way to be true to yourself and live an authentic life. That means you need to stop being a self hating gay and find some fellow gay people that you can befriend. If other gay people bore you, then you need to examine why. If they bore you because they have different interests, then you can find a gay community that supports your interests. It sounds as if you are stereotyping other gay people. Maybe that's why you are so isolated. You're 23 and need to find your niche within the gay community. Have the courage to be "real"- even if you need to move away...I'm sure your family already suspects that you are gay.

You've kind of got a lot going on. I'd find a gay-friendly counselor to talk to.

let me see if I understand this: Men are boring, women are boring....

Doesn't leave much choice for you then does it??

You have other problems you need to solve. My honest opinion is that you might want to talk to a therapist.

sincerely:
tom
