I understand the basic idea, that the shepherd leaves the flock who are all in safety and goes out after the missing one.
But how does Christ leave the flock to come after us? I think I'm just not wrapping my mind around the real meaning.

All the discussion these days is about outward observances: veils, bombings, etc. Will you wage an inward jihad to find the truth?

After reading his beliefs, I analyzed one belief that seems to be misleading. Elijah says:

"WE BELIEVE that we who declare ourselves to be righteous Muslims, should not participate in wars which take the lives of humans. We do not believe this nation should force us to take part in such wars, for we have nothing to gain from it unless America agrees to give us the necessary territory wherein we may have something to fight for."

Looking at the statement, "righteous Muslims"...should not participate in wars which take the lives of humans, it seems that his righteousness had limits. The statement "...unless America agrees to give us the necessary territory wherein we may have something to fight for", shows that Elijah, would have fought and killed in a war if given what he wanted.

So my question to the Nation of Islam is; "Do you think killing in war is justifiable as long as you get your land? Are you still considered righteous?

I don't believe there could ever be one philosophy or one work of literature that can explain the 'right thing to do' in every possible situation and in every human’s life (remember we are all unique and have unique lives).

There are always more than one side to every story. So, how do you decide what is the right thing to do, and why do you think it is 'right'?

As a species, no infighting between races and nations. What would it take to make this happen?
An outside threat to us as a whole? Someone or something that doesn't differentiate between us?

In James 2: 19-20 it says Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
I think they read John 3:16 and stop.READ PAST JOHN 3:16 to the end of the chapter. Please be reminded that even the devils believes.

I have tried for yeasr to argument logically with him, and at times he has almost crossed the line and accept God, I think that he is actually angry at God because all the bad things he has gone trhough and he intellectualizes. Can you please recommend me a good book to give him as gift, a book that he can read and is not too "preachy" if you know whta I mean. Thanks.

I ask this question because I posed a question to atheists about although they may not believe there to be a god that by living a good life, and using the moral system of do unto others that they indeed may not call it god, but that it is the nature of man to want to be good. some said that morals have nothing to do with god, then what does have to do with? Just wondering

We are told to tolerate people no matter what their color, creed, religon, etc. Why is it 'OK' to still discriminate toward smokers?

Please only give serious answers - I don't care if you think I'm an idiot, just try and keep it to yourself.

First of all I'm Wiccan who doesn't believe in heaven or hell so I'm not being blasphemous. Second, I heard this from a comedien so it was a joke but it's actually a very interesting question. I welcome any and all responses. I just want to see who has a sense of humor. Oh and I've tried Christianity for 20 yrs. and it's not my thing so please don't try to convert me.
