I understand the basic idea, that the shepherd leaves the flock who are all in safety and goes out after the missing one.
But how does Christ leave the flock to come after us? I think I'm just not wrapping my mind around the real meaning.

. The fourth insight about how to treat lost sheep has to do with the attitude of the shepherd when he finds the sheep. The shepherd does not lecture the sheep or officially terminate the sheep’s membership in the flock. The shepherd does not say, “Sorry, but my first act upon finding you is to revoke your membership in the flock”! The shepherd doesn’t chastise the sheep about getting lost, whether the act was deliberate or accidental. He doesn’t beat the sheep, “teaching” it never to do that again.

Instead, the shepherd is genuinely delighted to have found this valuable member of his flock. His attitude and actions are all gentle. He scoops up the sheep in his arms, lays it on his shoulders, and carries it back to the flock. Even the way he carries the sheep is an important detail about Jesus’ attitude toward the lost. The shepherd might have just said, “Follow me.” The sheep was probably scared, tired, and discouraged. Perhaps the shepherd arrived just in the nick of time, when a predator was closing in. The shepherd lifts the sheep high and carries it on his shoulders. If you can remember riding on your parent’s shoulders as a small child, you’ve got the picture. That sheep is treated to a position and perspective never experienced before.

Every sheep is valuable to our Lord. Christ never leave his flock---this is a guarantee that God makes us. Jesus is after the lost on a continuous basis through the work of the Holy Spirit and his human ministers. Jesus will do what he must to bring every lost soul to repentance, which is why he died on the cross and was raised the third day. His love is so great for us that no even death could keep him from us.

Christ, the shepherd knows His flock, not as docile as little lambs, and each member of the flock with a tendency to get lost once in awhile. Each member of the flock is important to the shepherd. With Jesus as the shepherd, He is God, and therefore is everywhere, He can keep His eyes on each of us without losing track of each of the others.

The shepherd must help the lost one, find the true way back, if he was to let one become confused and lost, every time one became lost, there wouldn't be and sheep left to tend to.

So basically our Lord is always communicating in so many ways to help us to find our way back to him, so be open to all the many ways that he communicates. Since we do have free will, he hints to us, gives clues, come back to me, he Love's us all the same, knowing we all have the ability to change.

Jesus our shepherd loves each one of us so much that he would leave his flock to come and get us if we ever got lost or in trouble.

Jesus leaves the flock to look for us once we ask. We must ask though. The choice is for us to accept the love of the Divine into our lives. Then once we make the choice (allow Jesus in) we feel what it is that we need to do to follow The Truth (the example of Jesus life). This is the principle of unconditional love with boundaries of The Truth. Tough love is not compromising the Truth to be liked.

In my own understanding...God doesn't like one of His people might lost. Meaning, each one of us is very important to Him. This is not concern about the whole group of Christianity or the people in entire religion..this is about His One sheep who is lost. The sheep described Us-His people and if one of His people (us )will be leading to the ways which is destruction...He will find us to go back to the right ways which He wanted us to.

Jesus meant if one of his sheep were missing he would go and fetch it, he knew all the rest were saved. Meaning he will continue to search for us, he will not force himself on us. He will knock on the door to our hearts, it's our choice if we let him in. All the Angels in Heaven rejoice when one of his sheep return to him. It is kind of like a riddle, we are the sheep in his flock, he is the shepard. He is gathering all of his followers to be saved from eternal damnation, so we can be with him forever. If we stray from him he will pull us back in and not let us forget!
