Dick Cheney is a moron. Nuff' said.

I can't believe I am going to write something that might sound like a defense of Cheney but fair is fair and intellectual honesty is more important to me than anything. Cheney has stated that he feels that any person should have the right to enter whatever type of relationship they want and be treated fairly by the government. Basically in secret he is for marriage equality. But he signed on to be Bush's VICE-President and it is NOT the job of the Vice-President to undermine the administration. He made the choice to defer in this matter to his boss, and I think he feels very strongly that it is the VP's job to put personal opinions aside once the President has made a policy decision. I remember him saying during the Edwards debate how "he supported the President's policy" on gay marriage, and it was almost with a wink and a nod that he didn't agree with it, but Bush is Boss. I think he may have thrown up in his mouth a little bit.

If you feel he shouldn't be so loyal to boss and party, then fine, argue that. But I don't see his situation as hypocritical or self-contradictory. All of us need to make choices based on our priorities, and his decision was that constitutional structure and political loyalty were more important than his personal feelings.

I don't either, but I think in this way, the Cheney family is representative of many others in this country. My mom said she could understand it--she wanted me to be happy, but wasn't sure about me and L'Ailee being considered legally married. She now understands that she has two daughters-in-law (I have a brother), but it was a long, hard trip to get there for her. It's harder for Dick and Lynne Cheney, because they have to deal with the social conservative elements of the party they love so much. It's not just their daughter they're thinking about.

Actually, Dick Cheney isn't against gay marraige. He once said that everyone should be entitled to the same rights. George W., on the other hand, is completely and totally against everyone having equal rights. But then he contradicts himself since he is for the death penalty and against abortion (procrastination anyone??)

George is an idiot, but Cheney doesn't think gay marriage should be illegal.

The daughter is a p*ssy. She spoke out in support of Bush, her daddy and the Republican party. She doesn't have the balls to support her brothers and sisters in the gay community. My prediction is after daddy's no longer vice president then she'll try to support the gay community. Hopefully they'll kick her a** to the curb.

Actually I have to agree with Serious_Rising and Kamikaze_Pilot on this one.

As much as I personally don't understand why he simply played patsy I also intellectually understand his respect for the VP office and it's political role.

Now that the Democrats control both houses of Congress, it might be interesting what these next two years bring.

He is not really against it, President Bush is the one. His daughter works for them as well and she struggles with supporting them and not getting support in return... Politics is an ugly thing when mixed with religion.... I'm sure this is a struggle for his family.

good question, and I'd love to hear his answer. he's a brain-washed, right-wing moron if you ask me. a typical conservative hypocrite. did you notice during the Republican convention a couple years ago when his family was with him on stage? his daughter wasn't. what kind of message does that send? a public figure whose publicly ashamed of his own daughter? but, don't get him mad or he might shoot you in the face!
