I know someone, over 50 who was just released from prison. His charge was drug related. Now he is out, and due to a heart condition and other various body ailments (he did construction for 30 years) he is not employable in his field any longer. On top of that, he has no other experience. On top of that, there is now this issue of a criminal history. He says he was told or read in jail, that there are loans available for ex offenders, and something about social security that you can claim for a period of time. However, he also thinks he may be eligible for disability because of his health conditions (which don't relate to the incarceration at all) .. What organizations should he contact first? Having absolutely no working knowledge about any of this, I am at a loss as to how to help him. Let me remind you, we are talking about a man who worked 7 days a week for 30 years, not some run of the mill criminal. Please refrain from rude and insulting responses. I am looking for real guidance.

Sometimes I think if I was fat, I'd be really sad and depressed. It must have such a bad effect on your self-esteem...which is why I wonder why some really overweight people don't try and lose more weight. Would you be depressed if you were fat?

I have this problem, and I don't know what to do. I like this dude, lets just call him "G", and I really like him. (I'm a guy, I'm 14, he's 15 and we are in junior high.) I really like him, and we are pretty close. I have a gilrfiend though (14) and let's just call her "S". Well we have been going out for near 10 months but I don't like her like that. I like "G" a whole lot more. I hate the idea of hurting "S" because she is really in to me and really suicidal. She told me that the only thing keeping her sane was me. I want to hook up with "G" and I am pretty sure he likes me, but I just don't know. Time is running out quick because he is moving to another state in 2 months. (Even if I don't hook up with him, should I tell him I like him.)

i got to a school where the population is black....my teacher is white and im mexican.....me and 3 of my friends always talk spanish in class..my teachers gets mad and is always getting us suspended for speaking spanish in class.....i feel very offneded specially with the immigration problem that is going on today in the world....i always refuse to stop talking spanish because i feel this is a free country and i could speak what ever language i want....but the teacher says no spanish in her class....is she right or am i right by not listening to her and standing up for my self...or what would u do in my situation...?

Ive got a friend who is kinda skinny, and all the time people say to her, "How did you get so skinny?", "You are so skinny", and "Eat some food or youll get even skinnier".

So why can't you tell someone "How did you get so fat?", "You are so fat", and "Stop eating or youll get even fatter"?

I am Catholic (I guess) but I haven't been to services in many years. I'd like to go this year, and I was just thinking ahead to Ash Wednesday. At work last year some people came to work with the ash cross on their foreheads, and left it there all day at work.
Does any employer have the right to tell you you have to wash it off or whatever? Or is this religious freedom ? Because I know there are sometimes lawsuits even over people wearing crosses to work.


also, Catholics, when do you wash that off?at end of day on ash wed.? thanks.

I've noticed it's easy to get over everybodies heads here.
How can I ask questions that can be partly understood and at least get a semi-intelligent answer back.
I like answers that make me think even deeper about something not wonder how humans manage to live through the day without accidentally killing themselves trying to brush their teeth.
That actually scares me about what humans have become now days.

My husband knew from the beginning that I was bisexual. I love him and the sex is wonderful, but I still want to sleep with women. Again, this has nothing to do with his sexual abilities or our love life in general. I do NOT want relationships with women, just casual sex. He cannot stand the fact that I want to sleep with another person. I tell him it is not cheating, and very different if I were to sleep with another man (or, for that matter, if he wanted to sleep with a woman). I understand where he is coming from, but it feels like he doesn't accept me for who I am. And no, asking him to join/watch will not help the situation. He really thinks we should be enough for each other. I just don't want to compromise anymore.
