You mean by using an Avatar? I think that people just don't want their faces all over the internet. That same statement could apply to anyone who doesn't use their real name on this site....which is everyone. And using an avatar, (if thats what you mean by showing your face,) is really just as deceptive as leaving the image blank. Obviously, none of us really look like pretty little cartoons.

no always, there are other reasons as well. there are some clones/impersonators trolling these forums who "steal" other people's pictures and use them all over Yahoo answers, 360, and who knows where else on the internet. My real picture was lifted off of 360 and used in here by a basher for a while...I had to remove it. I don't want people who actually know me to think I'm a hateful basher!

Yes, I want to hide personal information from people I don't know. I'm here to ask questions, and to answer them, not to share my personal information with millions of people. There are a lot of nuts out there.

I wouldn't post my social security number, my PIN for my bank card, my mother's maiden name, my street address, or my real name, either.

What do you have to hide...I some how suspect that your Avatar is not a picture of you...could I be wrong here? I used to have my pics up, but then some lunytoon stole all my pics and used them as his/her own, along with clones of my screen name! But, you can go to my 360 page to see pics if you are that interested.

I would love to show my avatar, but for some reason, it only appears on my Yahoo mail home page. I would probably have to sign out completely and re start but I'm just too lazy.

Some of us are older and not computer savvy. Isn't it enough that I figured out how to get here to answer questions (hopefully with some wisdom gained from years of experience - except how to use a computer). Now I have to figure out how to get a picture in my space? Computers were not around when I was young (neither was a VCR, DVD, CD, cell phone, MP3, etc, etc...).

I don't quite see how that means they have something to hide but it doesn't really matter anyway. Who wants the entire Web knowing virtually everything about them?
