Good exists. Bad is only lack of good. It does'nt exist. Light exists. There is a planet that sends us light. Darkness does'nt exist. There is no planet sending us darkness. It is just the lack of light. One example. To be stingy is considered "bad". But it is just not being generous -which is a moral quality. In order to be generous one has to have a high moral quality. Being stingy is just not having this moral quality.

Hard to say, i don't know exactly what you want to know. Good and bad about what? I just go with the good and evil traditional concept. Good and bad as you put it is what you like or dislike, what affect you either way. Up to a point is in the eye of the beholder. As long as we keep expanding our understanding about life and the universe ours perspectives on the subject will keep changing. Of course, some people think they have a divine right to define what's good and bad for others and to make laws about it. Good and bad is any thing that goes in favor or against the well being of the individual or society in general. For example, if an individual or a group believe to be above any law and bring death and misery to others, that's very bad. For this reason some aristocrats were put in the guillotines just a few years ago and that's very bad too. So, i don't believe there's an absolute good or bad in nature. Nature is what it is and creatures in the universe are the one who decide it meanings.

By all means, yes....human nature would not survive without good and bad. Each counter acts the other to bring a perfect balance.
