Why do you atheists quote the Words of a God you don't believe in when trying to make a point.

If you don't believe God exists, then using His Word only makes you a hypocrite.

Why do you do it?

This is first time when I am putting my thoughts on net so may be I will find plenty of like minded people. There are certain things which I feel that if we work on we can become a very nice country to live in, lets start from our roads, the way we behave on our roads can put any civilised person to shame. Can anybody explain it to me that why we are always in hurry the moment we hit the road? We are full of time still we show as if we are going to miss some millions if we delay for 5 minutes. Why so? We start honking,we start driving like brainless rats,we forget that there are others also on the same road.We become I ,me and myself, thats it.We care damn about traffic signals,we make sure to stop on top of zebra crossing. What education we are giving to our younger generation, they are going to follow us only and who knows that they would be worst than us!! Just go abroad once and see the difference I am pretty sure that you would be jealous of them. Why can't we be like them??????

Alcoholism is a good example. I see it as a choice, not a disease. And if alcoholism is a disease, then why isn't smoking, or overeating.

Seems to me that aloholism is an addiction, not a disease.

If you truly trust God why the need for prayer. (S)he already knows before you ask what it is that you want and need. Realizing this within myself has stopped many a prayer and substituted it with a spiritual knowing.

I am afraid of being made fun of by my co workers for having medievil supersticious beliefs.

But the Bible says that you should not deny Gods name.

I am reminded of the famous passage from the Book of Derek (from memory, forgive errors please):

"And the Romans cameth looking for the followers of Jesus, and Kevin of Tel Aviv, who was His disciple, said "I knoweth of no man named jesus, not around these parts anyhow. In Gallilee I kneweth of a Jessie, if that beith of any help."

And the Romans did not crucify kevin, although they kicked him in the shins and it hurt mightily.

God was angry, and he said unto Kevin "thou has denied my name. I cannot believe you can hurt me like this, after everything I have done for you guys, sending my son and whatnot. "

And God smote kevin on the head with a golf club. And then God smote kevin again with a polo mallet."

I dont want to be smitten. I know God is sensitive about people playing down their connections with Him.

What should I do?

a prayer request for my best friends father who can go at anytime. He has terminal cancer and everyone is just making him comfortable as they can. Maybe God isn't evil. Maybe he is there to help us through things like this. Thank you.

I am very interested in learning to speak Italian. I am planning on going to Italy next year and would love to be able to speak this beautiful language. I am wondering if I would need to find a teacher, or will a computer/or cd program work? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I think the easiest way to improve my English would be using Yahoo messenger, simply by chatting and pointing out the mistakes I make. In return I can teach you Lithuanian.. well, that's who I am.

Only serious answers from native English speakers please and from those who have enough time to do it, at least one hour a day, I'd say.

I'm a guy, 21 years old if it makes any difference,

thanks a lot!

I was born in Eastern Europe and now I live in Canada. When I recently visited home, I tried to contact the hospital where I was born to see if anyone can give me any info regarding the time I was born but it was absolutely not possible. Since my mom doesn't remeber and there are no official papers stating that, HOW can I ever find that out? I should mention that I am curious about this information since I would like to figure out my rising sun, etc (astrology stuff). If anyone can help me, I will be forever thankfull. I am trying to figure this out for several years now. Many thanks in advance!

So, then, we have on one side men calling themselves Christians, and professing the principles of liberty, equality, and fraternity, and along with that ready, in the name of liberty, to submit to the most slavish degradation; in the name of equality, to accept the crudest, most senseless division of men by externals merely into higher and lower classes, allies and enemies; and, in the name of fraternity, ready to murder their brothers.

Jeremiah 10:2-4

"Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen.... For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not."

My boyfriend's grandmother recently passed away and we will be attending the wake and funeral. Are we supposed to bring our son along with us? We are not sure how he will behave in a church for a funeral. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
