The Scriptures teach:
Gen. 2:20-24 - we see that, from the beginning, husband and wife are joined together by God and become one body. A body cannot be dismembered and still live.
Mal. 2:16 - God says "I hate divorce." These are strong words from our Lord. Divorce and remarriage violates the sacred marital covenant between a husband and a wife that has been ordained by God.
Matt. 19:6 - Jesus makes it clear that it is God who joins the husband and wife together, according to His will. What God joins together cannot be dissolved because God's will is perfect and eternal.
Matt. 19:9; Mark 10:11-12; Luke 16:18 - Jesus says that whoever divorces and remarries another commits adultery. This is an offense against the natural law.
Rom. 7:2-3 - again, Paul reiterates Jesus' teaching that sacramental marriage followed by a divorce and remarriage is adultery. He who commits adultery destroys himself. (Prov. 6:23). Many Protestant denominations have rejected this teaching of Jesus and His Church.
1 Cor. 7:10-11 - once again, Paul gives Christ's teaching that married couples cannot divorce and remarry. This violates God's divine plan for the husband and wife.
Matt. 5:31-32 - the Lord permits divorce only for "porneia." This Greek word generally means unlawful sexual intercourse due to either blood relations (also called incest) or nonsacramental unions. The Lord does not permit divorce for "moicheia" (adultery). It is also important to note that in these cases, a marriage never existed in the first place, so the Lord is not actually permitting divorce, but a dissolution of the unlawful union.
Eph. 5:22-32 - Paul says that the sacramental union of husband and wife is the image of Christ and the Church. Just as Christ the Bridegroom and His Bride the Church are inseparable, so are a husband and wife also inseparable. A civil divorce cannot dissolve a sacramental marriage (between two baptized people).
1 Cor. 7:12-15 - these verses set forth what the Church calls the "Pauline privilege" - two unbaptized people marry, and afterwards one of the people is baptized. If the unbaptized person decides to leave the marriage, the Christian is free to remarry (because the first marriage was not sacramental, and a union between a baptized and an unbaptized person can jeopardize the baptized person's faith).
Ezra 10:1-14 - these verses support what the Church calls the "Petrine privilege" - a baptized person marries an unbaptized person. To save the baptized person’s faith from being jeopardized, the Pope may dissolve such a marriage pursuant to his binding and loosing authority.
Rev. 19:9 - the marital union of man and woman reflect Christ's union with the Church at the heavenly marriage supper. Just as Christ and the Church have become one flesh through the Eucharist and the union brings forth spiritual life for God's children, a man and a woman become one flesh and their union brings forth physical life for the Church. This union is indissoluble.

you should use Matthew 26:26-28, John 6:fifty one-sixty six, Matthew 16:18, Acts 2:22-40, 2 Thessalonians 2:15, 2 Peter 3:16, James 5:13-16 or probable even Exodus 25:33-36; 26:a million. Ohhh, wait, those are extremely scriptual defenses FOR the Catholic Church. There are much better defenses for the Catholic Church contained in the Bible, yet those verses must be a strong starting up aspect.

The Catholic Church does not get its doctrinal teaching from the Bible. Rather, the Bible reflects the doctrinal teaching of the Catholic Church, which came first. The New Testament writers all held positions of authority in the early Catholic Church, which is where they learned the fullness of Christian truth. Their writings therefore naturally reflect that fullness of Catholic truth. When the Catholic Church gathered some of its writings into a book at the end of the 4th Century and called it "The Bible", obviously it accepted into its book only those writings which accurately represented its Goid-given teaching. This includes the Catholic teaching, "what God has joined together, no man must separate". This what the Apostles, the first bishops of the Holy Catholic Church, received directly from the lips of Jesus Christ, and this is what the Catholic Church therefore will teach until the end of time. And it would be doing so even if the Apostles had never written a word, and even if the Church had never compiled the Bible.

The Catholic Church believes that God does not recognize civil divorces.
Jesus said, "Therefore what God has joined together, no human being must separate." (Mark 10:9)
However there may be hope of a declarations of nullity.
The term "annulment" is a misnomer because the Church does not undo or erase a marriage bond.
Rather the Church issues a declaration of nullity when it discovers that the parties were not truly joined by God and hence a full spiritual sacramental marriage as understood by the Church was not present.
Then the parties are free to marry for the first time.
With love in Christ.

The Catholic church does not allow divorce but you can request an annulment of your marriage through the church which then absolves the marriage and you are free to remarry without committing adultery. On the condition that an annulment is granted. The church does not always grant them. It depends on the findings after their investigation into your marriage. And what they find as the cause.
It is man who allows divorce not God. In marriage the two become one until death.

The restriction against divorce is based on the following:
"Because the Lord has been witness between you and the wife of your youth, with whom you have dealt treacherously; yet she is your companion and your wife by covenant" (Malachi 2:14).
"But did He not make them one, having a remnant of the Spirit? And why one? He seeks godly offspring. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously with the wife of his youth" (Malachi 2:15).
"For the Lord God of Israel says that He hates divorce, 'for it covers one's garment with violence,' says the Lord of hosts. 'Therefore take heed to your spirit, that you do not deal treacherously'" (Malachi 2:16).
Marriage is a COVENANT; and from ancient times, covenants were sacred - covenant breakers were accursed.
Jesus said that Moses allowed the Jews to divorce their wives only as a concession: "becuase of the hardness of your hearts" (Matt. 19: 8). MOses laid down some laws regarding divorce in order to protect the rights of divorcees, especially women (Deuteronomy 24:1-4). But from the beginning, God desired and made husband and wife to be "one flesh" and "for this reason, a man shall leave father and mother and cleave to his wife" (Gen. 2: 24). According to the Bible, God’s plan is that marriage be a lifetime commitment. “So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate” (Matthew 19:6).
Hope this helps :)

Think it is most protesters,as well as catholics, and Jews who believe that way.
don't know the section of the bible, however it is the part where one takes a wife 'til death do them part',now this may not have actually been apart of the original manuscript rather added on later as people have been known to do.

In Catholic, Baptist and Luthern ceremonies (As well as likely a few other Christian faiths) Your vows are not only to one another but to God. Divorce is a sin because it is a breach of your covenant with God to remain wed until death do you part.
Kind of devicive and not strictly outlawed in the bible but there you have it.

In the bible, it says that the only reason to divorce would be for adultery. Otherwise, you have to stick with it.

Divorce is a sin in any religion. God said until "death do you part." Not man.
