what do you love or respect about a religion other than your own.... this time i'll try to be more specific. i do not want to hear how much you love your own religion. i do not to hear about how much you hate religion in general..... think about one specific practice of another religion that you really respect

ill start: i'm a muslim and i love islam..... i think that buddhist meditation is very beautiful. true buddhists really do center themselves. if you ever have a chance to know a buddhist they are very peaceful people

ok.... now your turn....

I saw a documentary about the Celts and it was long and detailed but it concluded that looking at the DNA tests, the cultures and things such as artefacts, the Irish have little in common with the Celts. Dont shoot me I'm as suprised as you all are!!!
Some of my extended family have Irish blood in them so I'm just curious.

Candle-bridges are common Christmas decorations, especially on windows, but I can't find out what they signify for Christians, and on TV I saw an Iranian Jewish man with one in his room, but if they are a Jewish symbol why are they used for Christmas? (This is a serious research question, please don't fill up all the answers with stupid jokes if you don't know the answer!)

In quran it says:

[Shakir 7:179] And certainly We have created for hell many of the jinn and the men; they have hearts with which they do not understand, and they have eyes with which they do not see, and they have ears with which they do not hear; they are as cattle, nay, they are in worse errors; these are the heedless ones.

The question :

Do you want to be one of them?

Many people say "Seeing is believing" how is that so? I say to a man to you believe in God he say "yes" then i say do you believe in aliens he says "no". I say why not " I've personally never seen them and I don't go by what others say." So I say how is it that you believe in a God that you never seen and can't believe in aliens that you never seen before at the same time? He said " your right." Then I say whats a cult? he replied " A group of people that believes pretty much the same thing; mostly accociated with negetive things." I say would it be ok to claim religion to be a cult by definition? he was very relunctant but said "yes" Then I asked do you see a world headed towads wars and destruction because of religion? he replied " normal i would ask for your 666 mark but you make a strong point that the only way for peace is to sacrifice the one thing people believe in the most. Mant people would convert fight and died for their religious beliefs; and you are God awfully right?"

Is this religion for profit? Are you really a very greedy person going after the big jackpot?

In the 1960's the rock & roll group, Fleetwood Mac had a popular song called "Hypnotized", I think it was...in it they sang about a strange place in North Carolina where there was a pond in the thick of a forest with no roads leading to it. It seems that the sides of the pond were like glass...and they sang, "And if any mans hands had made that land then I think it would have showed! Has any one heard of such a place or are these "just" lyrics written to sell a song? Genuine responces only, please.

As many of you might know by now, I am an Atheist, but many of you may not know that I majored in Sociology and Psychology in college. As a result, I become really facinated with the way people think, act, react, and so on. And I was just sitting here wondering why it sounded so rediculous the claim of evolution and the big bang to theists. If you think about it, it does sound pretty far out and "religious" that there was some explosion that made all planets perfectly with all the elements forming from two. It sounds somewhat ridiculous to have spontanious life from non-life, and for this little nothingness to become all the animals and us. Don't get me wrong; I do believe in these because they are based on reason and logic with good evidence, but for someone that doesn't have this knowledge or open-mindedness doesn't it "logically" sound preposterous? From their point of view I can see it does sound like the myth we realize religions are. Do you agree? Discuss!
