Man, is a very dangerous animal capable of the utmost evil, and also capable of the up most compassion. So we tread a unsure path between the two! Agreed? right! so we have a question here that is very hard to answer! As the two are very hard to tell apart, and I have not mention greed as well have I? The way I see it is give all people some hope in life such as financial security and we cannot do that until we get rid of the capitalist system! And I'm not advocating another communist regime by the way! If people have enough money to live on and pay their way then crime would not be such a big draw card to them! I know you'd get the odd few who cant resist stealing! but on the hole crime would drop! Now drug addicts! we'd have to help them obtain there fixes, and try to cure them! (I said try too!) so all drug related crime would come down too! Do you think the world would be a better place to live, than the hell hole people have to survive in now? Have a good day!

My very serious answer would be to eradicate humans from the planet.
That way, it would revert back to the eden it has the ability to be for all the more deserving animals that DON'T abuse it, were it not for us ruining it by pollution, genetically modifying, warring, etc.
Failing that, the only other way I can see this world becoming a better place is if we eventually evolve into non physical beings - then we would no longer need to fight over the material crap we currently are seemingly willing to kill and die for.

I heard an opinion about that and I support it. A Noble prize winner named Muhammad Rashid (not sure about his full name) won it this year for peace. He said this:
To boost the world peace, we need to eliminate poverty. My contribution would be to help by any means to erase poverty, and to spread education among everyone, so that people will become more open-minded and more able to communicate effectively with others. If we can erase the racist ideas from people's heads, and for countries to help each other more, and "fix" their selves from the inside, their international relationships will be built on peace, not war. This is a hard process, but if people on earth try to work for the best, it would be a better world.

I believe using soy alternative fuel and cloning livestock would end the oil crisis and world famine. If we mass produced genetically engineered soy beans that produce more oil, grow at an incredible rate and tolerant of extreme weather than we should produce enough for the whole country. Mass producing cloned livestock that grow faster and are more tolerant of diseases will reduce the price of meat. We can do the same with wheat for food and fuel.
The world would be so much better.

I am a Christian, and I am not knocking the question but Christ really came to earth to teach us and show us that this world is not and never will be the place that we would like it to be. Jesus' answer to the problem is not to fix the world, but to prepare a new one for us where there will not be any evil, or suffering, or death. He promised to give us grace to live on this world until He returns, and peace in our hearts for those who trust in Him, but over all He told us not to get too attached down here because the end is soon to come. Jesus said, Matthew 6:19 "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. "But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal"

an individual can teach their views only as long as they are alive. An ongoing group can teach it as long as the world cares to here them. Only once enough people rise up in support of a better world will things be changed.

As long as we are in R&S , lets put politics in its place, and focus on us as the question asks for.
In my opinion, the world can be much better if we learn how to respect the other, as whatever he is, to listen to the other, and try to see the right. and as lord Jesus said, to Love each other in a pure way..go to all what;s going on on eaerth now and you will see it is because of gread, hatrid and love for money and power
