First off - I'm not interested in bashing, or if this religion or that is right or wrong. I just want to know what the perspective is.

About a week ago a muslim on this board said they see Christianity much as Christains vew Judaism. (in that one religion replaced another).

I know Christians see many things in the Old Testament as being symbolic of Christ (the sacrifical lamb without blemish for example). I was just curious if Muslims find symbolism for their faith in the New Testiment. If so, can you give an example?

Thanks.

No christians quoting the bible or cursing. I want to hear real thoughts on the subject.

Is the age of christianity over? The christians have lost a lot of their power now. They can't go on crusades anymore, unless they wan't to start some big war. About 2/3 of the world don't believe in christianity, or something like that. So what are your thoughts on this?

Are there myths about the Tree of Life in Asia and Africa?

I know the Tree of Life is common in various forms in the mythology of Europe, the Middle East, India, and amongst Native Americans, and was wondering if this is a global concept.

Why we don’t understand our route from early knifes which we made from animal bone to today’s laser cutting? Why idiots believe in gods creation of the world in 6 days and leave a valuable theory like evolution? Why Christianity does seeking for uneducated rural tribesmen to spread their religion? Are they going back to the beginning of Christianity, Like the time when Jesus mock around with sheep’s and fishmongers? Do you think the people who are joining today have an idea about what is the actual plan of Vatican? Why the Hindu idiots can not care for all the humans equally? Why do the Governments do not take actions against this religious activities? US Protestant missionaries are converting low cast Hindu people in Asia. Why do they want to spread the virus? Why we follow stupid outdated religious books and ignore science gems like Charles Darwin. Why the Christian church is calling him as a idiot. Why chirch and muslim leaders dont switch on 2 National Geography channel and Nature

Promised rewards for obedience and damnation for disobedience. Righteous prophets and men of God using scare tactics to create a submissive state of mind into total compliance. For the Salvation you seek, the road is paved with bodies, running alongside a lake of blood. Dissent will throw you into burning pits where you will suffer for eternity, while like a sheep to a slaughter house you follow the bitter taste of salvation.

I have had some really interesting answers about missionaries recently, there is just one thing bothering me...

If someone has not heard about the "word of god", they automatically go to heaven, as it is not their fault, right? So why tell them, and risk their souls? Surely helping them, and keeping your beliefs to yourself would be much kinder?

To a child, telling them that if they sin and don't make up for it in the eyes of God they will burn in hell forever is metaphorical at all. It seems very real, and an extremely frightening prospect. Shouldn't children be left alone until they are of a certain age where they can think for themselves to decide which religious ideas best suit them or lack there of are best for them?

FYI, this question is not aimed at teachers.

I believe that we fail to educate our children about the following:
1) Managing finances.
2) The importance of college, what will happen if you don't go and what steps you need to take to go. I believe this should be taught from a very early age.
3) Starting in KG we should be taught why we are even in school...I asked both my son and his friend whom are in second grade and considered above average intelligence if they were aware that they are in school to prepare them for the adult world; they had no idea.
4) Proper diet. Look at the menu on the average school menu, its loaded with Fats, Sugars, and bad Carbs.
5) Positive thinking. I feel we don't teach kids to believe in themselves.
6) Innovative learning techniques. The only one I was taught was to create an acronym out of something to remember it. I have seen entire books on tips and tricks for more effecient ways to learn. This should be a course in itself.

We are mini slow moving time machines. Time travel will always be impossible due to the paradox. We may be able to view the past but never go there. Recorded media will allow future viewers to see us. The future is happening one second at a time, and we are in its time machine. my toast was fine
