A single female can be a spinster, yes, but one thinks of a spinster as an old woman who's never married. I think a spinster is the latter...I am a single woman and am enjoying a life without a ball-n-chain, plus spawn!

A spinster would stay at home and do nowt, a single female will enjoy life and do stuff cos at the time she enjoys being single.
Also i think there is an age issue spinster one ones own with lots of cats over the age of say 60 - you as old as you feel i guess.

a spinster is a woman in her older years who has never been married, a single girl is just single till she gets hitched (or not as the case may be, then she'll become a spinster too one day).

from what i know or think. single female is when a girl doesn't have a guy in her life (love life) and either chose to be that way or ended up that way (being dumped obviously) and a spinster is a woman that refuses men completely in a kind of way

a single female is one that is not married even in her younger age while spinster is a single female who have reached her old years yet not married. a single female may be will be married before reacxhing the age of the spinster. you call her as single female even she have begotten sons and daughters but without marriage to anyone else, in short single mother
